Low-key place to hang out with friends. Williams is a really nice, casual, peanut-shells-on-the-floor kind of place to grab a drink and hang out with friends. Their margaritas are a bit on the salty side, but the ambiance is really nice...just get there a little early to stake out a table and a dart board!
You can't go wrong with a menu of nearly 400 different brews, free peanuts and a basement overflowing with popcorn..
In Short
This popular Uptown bar claims one of the area's largest beer selection: 300 bottled brews and 70 different draft selections that are updated every Friday. Williams is popular with college students and Uptown regulars and the bar has a split personality to accommodate the varied crowd. The upstairs pub attracts a clean-cut crowd, while the sloppy, comfortable basement "nut bar" is a slacker's sanctuary of free popcorn and peanuts, with pinball and dartboards.
It's a Bar.
OK, here is the real deal from someone who's spent plenty of time there. William's is a bar!
The food is OK, about average for bar food... BUT, the buffalo wings are the best in town, hands down, and you can't beat the wing special on Monday nights. Thursday nights are usually packed, with great drink specials until 11PM, and plenty of eye candy (have fun fighting the 22 years olds off as you try to get a drink). Other than that, they do have a great beer selection, it IS a bit expensive if you stray from the specials, and entertainment options are plentiful. They have pool, darts, Golden Tee, foosball, NTN Trivia, and video games.
This is not a trendy place nor does it try to be. It is a good bar and can be a good time if you're with the right crowd. Expect too much, and you'll probably be disappointed.
Big Beers. Good for a guys night out. Lots of good bar games and HUGE beers. If you want a low key- low maintenance night- its an okay time. Dont dress up- youll stick out big time. Defiantly a BAR. They do have a good happy hour.
Great Bar!. Monday nights has great wings for cheap. Buy a pitcher of beer for regular price which was only like $7.50 for Miller Lite which I think is cheap for the area, and get a pitcher of wings for $5. Great deal and awesome wings!! Waitress was friendly and had everything to us fast.
Mediocrity at its Finest.. The Bar is so/so. On the plus side, they've got a huge beer selection. On the minus side, drinks are overpriced, the service is abysmal, and the food is horrible. On more than one occasion we've found some of the less popular beers to taste spoiled, and on almost every occasion we've found that we're completely ignored by the bartenders. We used to frequent this place, but have since found other establishments. I wouldn't recommend it even though I've had a great time there on some of my visits.
Great all-around bar.
With so many negative reviews, I thought I'd better offset it with my experiences.
I go to Williams several times a year and never have had a bad experience there.
The service & food are average, but the beer selection and atmosphere can't be beat in uptown. If you had a bad experience, go downstairs. You'll find an easy-going & casual atmosphere with a limitless supply of peanuts & a great beer selection.
Average. Williams is a nice place to hang with friends, if you arrive early enough to get a table. I recommend outdoor seating to avoid the crowded, way-too-noisy bar. Most of the time, the service is slow, but friendly, although there was one instance where the waitress actually made fun of a member of my group. Other than that, Williams is nice, the beer choices are superb, the liters are fun, but the food is just mediocre. The appetizers are not bad, if you've been drinking...and are really hungry.
Strictly a watering hole-food's inedible. This place doesn't know good food if it slapped them in the face. I ordered dinner one slow, weekday evening and it was so salty I couldn't eat it. The waiter admitted that, ". . . this is food for people who are drunk."
lighten up.
The williams is a fun place to hang out with a few buds. Would I go there to eat often? No but when you're hungry what they have is good. The Tues. & Thurs. 9-11 1/2 priced cocktails are well worth the crowd. Oh and lots of eye candy too.
