Great food and People. The Uptown Lotus has never disapointed me, their menu is huge with tons of vegetarian options (you can get everything with tofu or mock duck instead of meat), their portions are large, and always taste fresh. You never need a reservation, and service is fast and a lot of the servers have worked there a long time and are very helpful and know a lot about the menu. Who cares what the decor is like? Its the food I keep going back for, and look around theirs a lot of regulars, they must be doing something right.

Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. Popular Pan-Asian chain known for the fresh ingredients that go into their traditional chicken, pork, beef and shrimp meals.

Good for Vegetarians?. Let me preface this review by saying, I have only been to the uptown lotus once, so this review may not be entirely fair. The ambiance is non-existant. Just a bunch of 80's style metal chair thrown in a room with formica-topped tables. I mean, I wasn't expecting much, but still...this place reminded me of a cheap chinese buffet restaurant. Anyway, the food, unfortunately, wasn't much better. One of my friends (vegetarian) is always raving about this place, claiming they have an awesome veg. selection (she's right...HUGE selection). However, we both ordered tofu curry dishes, and both were served with several chunks of chicken in the dish! I didn't really mind, but my friend was pretty upset by this. Basically, this was a good indication of how the cooks handle things in the kitchen: sloppily.

the ORIGINAL Lotus? there is ONE left in the TC!. The Lotus was started by a Vietnamese family many years ago, and became so popular that it expanded to several places in the Twin Cities.. Most of the restaurants were eventually sold and are now all independently owned and operated - hence the differences in menu. The lotus uptown is a joke compared to the original.

The last LOTUS standing that was (and IS) still owned and operated by one of the original family members moved from their original 50th and france location to Spring Lake Park about 6-7 years ago (now called THE LOTUS GARDEN) They are STILL THERE and the food is AMAZING - it's the authentic vietnamese Lotus you remember! Go visit these people - they are wonderful and the food will please you!

HORRIBLE!!!! THE WORST FOOD EVER. This place looks like, and has all these 'rewards' on it's wall, but the food is simply crap. It's not authentic at ALL. It's way overpriced for how nasty it is. I'd rather eat at Leann Chin. The pop I had tasted like it's been opened laying in the fridge for a week, and the refill is $1.50!!!!! Don't ever eat here.

Delightful. I certainly do not agree with the past couple of reviews of The Lotus. The food is always fresh, tastes great and is adequately priced. Not only that, you always recieve servcie with a smile. This is not the place to take a date to prom, but for good vietnamese food, this is the place to go.

Where's the Viet Food?. I would concur with Bunny L. Several years ago Lotus use to be a Vietnamese restaurant. Now they've expanded their menu to Chinese, Thai and other S.E. Asian dishes. They have gone away from being authentic to copying the franchise style of LeAnne Chin's or PF Chang's. It's too bad because the food suffers as a result.

Do not expect any Vietnamese food!. ... I just cannot accept this restaurant is a Vietnamese restaurant. This is more like Chinese! If you expect something closer to Vietnamese, do not come here and go to Eat street.
