Almost the best. I became familiar with the Pineda name via the glorious location further East on Lake street, near Hiawatha. That location is gone, so I've tried this version a few times. The food is basically identical, although I've been disappointed in the carnitas (my favorite at the other location); once, it was tough and chewy; another time, it was soggy and runny. Otherwise, this place is burrito heaven: if you don't love what you get on your first visit, give it another try.
Brush up on Spanish before entering this no-frills authentic Mexican restaurant, known for its made-to-order tacos..
In Short
Prepare for simplicity when stepping into this grab-and-go Mexican restaurant. Bare white walls surround a small counter-only space. The menu hanging above the counter hasn't been dusted in ages, but the items haven't changed either. The authentic food, however, is why neighborhood residents frequent here and Mexican-food lovers drive out of the way to eat at this East Lake's Little Mexico treasure. Plus, the assembly line taco preparation ensures you get exactly what you're craving.
tough to beat!. I think this place is as good as it gets for tacos! They've got a nice selection and I've enjoyed everything I've had. Keep up the good work!
Great food, Great price. Much better food and service than St. Paul's Burrito Mercado. Friendly staff and bigger portions. Try the Burrote. You get the choice of two meats on this burrito looking thing, and it is as big as your head!! The place is pretty dirty sometimes but I usually get it to go so I could care less.
