Stopped in for lunch other day, I wanted to give them a try as they were close to work. I was one of 3 tables in the place. I ordered quickly (cheese wontons, and a salad), then waited...and waited. 25 minutes later and I finally flag down the hostess about my food. she tells me she will check, I told her I need to leave soon. wait some more. As my wontons finally arrive, I ask that the whole thing just be boxed up, which took another 5 minutes. The wontons ended up being very greasy, the salad poor. With such poor service and pitiful food quality I don't know how they stay in business (besides that they own the building)...which was attested by the lack of lunch time eaters. I will never return !

Excellent Food and Pleasant Service. I have frequented this independent restaurant over the past eight years and have come to enjoy the great menu of tasty Vietnamese dishes. Recently, I have enjoyed the curry dish with potatoes, carrots and mock duck. My partner has liked the special chow fun with four different types of meat. As for the atmosphere, this Uptown (actually Lynlake) restaurant does not have ungracious and pushy staff. It does take some time to get your meal, but it is worth it. The decor is not much to speak of, but if you want to impress family members with good food, this is a good place to do it.

Great family owned restaurant. I always get the beef and potato and it is always great, yes the service is slow but come on this nice older woman is often doing most of it herself with the help of some family members. The prices are beyond reasonable, and get take out if you cant wait too long.I have gone to Saigon for a long time and I definitely disagree with the "hostile servers who will threaten children" completely not true.

Slow service, mediocre food. Despite being the only party in the entire restaurant it took more than half an hour to get food that should have only taken a little while to cook. The food was not totally inedible but it was pretty bad. Then we had to go up front to pay because they didn't think to bring the check.

At least it was cheap.

HOSTILE SERVERS. The server crashed right into my infant daughter and did not even apologize... strange and frightening. Luckily my daughter was so tired she only woke and fussed before she fell back asleep.

I REALLY wanted to like this place!!. I was really hoping this would be my new go to spot since all of the good Lotuses are gone now, but wow, I cannot believe the dish they served me. I only took a bite and really could not take another. It was the Teriyaki Tofu. It was basically a bunch of breaded and deep fried tofu with no flavor served with a small bowl of some kind of sauce that had no flavor, just heat. It was really nasty, and I'm surprised they were not kind of embarrassed to serve it.

The cream cheese puffs would have been sooo good if they would just put some garlic or something in them. They had NO flavor at all. But they looked amazing!

I might give it another go with another dish here though..the prices are fantastic!

Curry chicken w/coconut milk -- I want this to be my "last meal". Agreed -- their egg rolls are to die for, but so is the curry chicken with coconut milk. I order this every time and, if I get to choose my "last meal," this would be it. You can get dishes spiced as you like; I order this "medium." A few friends and I ordered takeout a couple weeks ago, and we ALL ordered the curry chicken (and egg rolls, of course).

The Saigon is a favorite haunt of many friends, and has served consistently great food over many years. Yummm....

EXCELLENT Vietnamese. Saigon Uptown has UNBELIEVABLE food. My husband and I have been putting up with rush hour traffic from St. Paul to go there ever since we moved 6 years ago. The price is wonderful, the food is divine. Like others have said, the restaurant is not an architectural or design show-piece, but man is the food excellent. If you're looking for a delicious satisfying meal and the decor is not your priority, try Saigon.

Best Eggrolls Indeed!!!. The egrolls from Saigon Uptown are my favorite food; thin and crispy, fried to perfection. Definitely the best I've ever had.

Best Lemon Grass Chicken.... Saigon Uptown has absolutely the BEST lemon grass beef and chicken around. I've had it several other places and nobody does it at well as these guys. And it's cheap too. I can't speak to the speed of the service, as I always just get take-out, but it's always been ready for pick up when promised. If you like Vietnamese, don't miss this place.
