Grungy, Delicious, and Awesome. If you're hankerin for a delicious, no-frills breakfast, Sunnyside Up is your place. But don't go in with high expectations. This is your classic, grungy, breakfast joint and that's exactly what's to love about it. There's a reason there's usually a line out the door if you get there after 9am on the weekend. We're regulars and, as with any other restaurant, there are great experiences and not so great, but that doesn't stop us from coming back. I've never been disappointed in anything I've ordered. The biscuits and gravy rock as do any of their egg dishes. If I had one complaint that they don't serve good chocolate milk. Oh, and be careful with the blue corn pancakes. I've never ordered them myself, but I've dined with people who have. They are supposed to be delicious, but you may regret the decision about a half an hour after you're done dining. Sorry if that was TMI, but don't say you weren't warned.…
Don't bother... We were rudely treated upon arrival and told to wait outside in the cold - which we refused to do. We then waited for twenty minutes before being seated at a dirty table with ripped furniture and handed a menu that had not been wiped off in a month. I can't comment on the food because we waited over fifteen minutes for a server to arrive which never happened. It might be added that the overall unkept appearance of the place and it's employees made me question what the kitchen mightblook like. After spending most if my life in the restaurant business, I would say that this place does a great job illustrating what NOT to do.…
Bad Service. I was recommended this place by a friend. I'd gone on a really busy Sunday morning, waited for an half an hour. Was seated and waited an HOUR for our breakfast which was eggs and toast.... The people next to us waited were seated after us and waited 45 minutes for their food and the server offered them free drinks...and yet we were not. The people working there were looking somewhat dirty and sweaty and we should have left. But we ate and it was good, although I still can't believe we waited an hour and they didn't offer any sort of compensation. I told the waitress that she served the people next to us before us and were given free drinks and I thought that the same should be done for us, she said ok to but was not very apologetic or nice about any of it. THEN we left and I realized I'd left my boyfriends ridiculously expensive Ray Bans on the table as we'd gotten to the car. He went back in the restaurant and asked the waitress if she'd seen them, she said no, he then looked and couldn't find them and asked her for help looking and she was so rude and refused. He then talked to the manager and she was a bit nicer and they found the glasses on the floor with one of the lenses smashed. Which this obviously isn't their fault, it just was the cherry on top of a miserable mess. It's funny b/c my friend has had good experiences here, but I had one that will ensure I never go back. Zero Stars…
Great breakfast - casual and delicious. Love, love, love the biscuits and gravy! Visit on the weekends and plan to wait. Use the time to read the paper, catch up with a friend, and look forward to the fantastic breakfast soon to be served. French toast, hash browns...mmmm.…
greasy spoon cafe. The food was quick, relatively inexpensive and greasy! The coffee was bitter to boot. I'm not sure why people rave about this place as much as they do. There are better choices in the neighborhood.
