Sante Fe French Toast.
I'm not normally a french toast fan, but the Sante Fe french toast is worth the trip alone. If you haven't had it, it's definitely worth a try.
The only downside, is that if you have a larger group expect a wait on the weekends. Otherwise, decent service (depends on how busy they are), good prices and GREAT food!
Loved It!. I was seated promptly by a cheerful host, and my server was at my table almost immediately with a glass of water. She was friendly and knowledgeable, and the service was excellent. I wanted to try just about everything on the menu and finally decided on the Cowboy Tort, which was delicious and very, very filling. I can't wait to go back.
Great Breakfast. When my wife and I lived in Uptown, this was the spot. The French Toast is amazing, and I think the hashbrowns are really good as well. Mine have never been frozen, and if you walk through the back and peak into the kitchen, you can see a whole pile sitting on the grill getting perfect. Sometimes the service is annoying. We had a really good server but everytime someone said something, he would reply with, "No worries." He must have said, "No Worries," about 50 times to our table. Can I get a cup of coffee? No Worries. Can I get a napkin? No worries. But like I said, he was really good and the food came out quick and the coffee was always being poured.
Offers standard breakfast fare, but its true specialties are Southwestern dishes..
In Short
The cool slate-blue interior of the cafe won't jar you awake on sleepy mornings and the staff is efficient and friendly, even on busy days. You can order the basics, such as eggs, pancakes and hash browns, but the scrambled eggs with cactus paddles, huevos rancheros or the Cowboy Tort--pork layered between tortillas and smothered with refried beans, salsa and cheese, topped with two poached eggs and sour cream--are all filling, spicy treats.
AWFUL. I 'm really not sure how this place a rates a 9.2, the food here is just awful, hashbrowns frozen in the middle, come on guys change the setting on the microwave. The service is good, at least it looked good at the other tables, I guess we were invisible that day. Anyway may give it another shot, but man this time around really soured us for this place
I Wouldn't Know. Everyone seems to think this place is the best ever. I for one wish I had the chance to try the food. We arrived there 45 minutes before I needed to be to work. we had no problems finding a seat, the server got us our coffee right away (the coffee was good), and that was the last we saw of our server (exept when she took the order for the table next to us, who were seated 10 minutes after us). I gave up after 15 minutes because at this point we didn't have enough time. I may get the nerve to try it again but I would go to Egg and I (right down the street) before I try to stop here again.
Sunnyside WAY UP!. Two words... FRENCH TOAST! The best I ever had! This place is definatly not known for fine dining, but if what you want is a great breakfast, you must come here! Be prepared for a wait, especially on the weekends, but it's well worth it! Those people are in line for good reason!
Sunnyside Up. Sunnyside Up is the best best breakfast in Minneapolis Hands Down. They Have the best French Toast I've ever had. The waitstaff is quick and friendly even though there is a line outside the door from pretty much open to close on the weekends. The atmosphere and people watching are great, and my favorite part is going to Sunnyside Up later on in the afternoon because the later it is, the more hungover it gets. The review on this website is wirng though, they do have a smoking section.
My fave. I go to this breakfast joint every weekend. I have taken family, friends, little groups and big groups to this popular restaraunt. I have never once had poor service or bad food. Their menu has both standard breakfast favorites and fun twists. The worst part about going to this restaraunt is trying to decide what I should eat!!
always busy for a reason... a few words here - try the french toast! it is the best I have ever had and worth buying every time upon return.
