In Short – Don't expect anything fancy--just a classic American breakfast done really well. The setting is equally simple: A scattering of local art and heaps of newspapers to pore over while you eat. The breakfast menu offers every imaginable combination of every breakfast staple, all cooked to golden brown in a glory of butter. The choices are endless: Wheat or white? Scrambled or fried? Bacon or sausage? Pancake varieties include buttermilk, sourdough, buckwheat and multigrain.
Little Egg was hoppin'

We went to the Lyndale location over the weekend for the first time. The service was great. Even though it was packed in there, our server was on the ball with the coffee, juice, food, and the jokes. Even the bus-boys were on it....no need to wait for any refills.
Food was quick and really tasty. Even though I live on the other side of the city, I want to try the "Big Egg" now in St. Paul.
Great atmosphere, food prepared really well, I have never been disappointed with any breakfast item on their menu. The people that serve you take alot of pride in doing things right.

Great atmosphere, food always prepared really well, I have never been disappointed with any breakfast item on their menu. The waitresses take alot of pride in doing things "right". For a great breakfast experience, go to the "EGG and I".
- Pros: Great food, nice size servings.
- Cons: Sometimes get a little busy.
Consistent poor service
by bigdaddy8
While the Egg & I offers a decent breakfast selection, they can't seem to fix their poor service. Over the years I've become used to having to get my own silverware, or sweetener, or highchair. Today my wife had to walk across the restaurant to pour herself a fresh cup of coffee, all the while our waitress sat and gabbed with her coworkers. We must have waited for 10 minutes with an empty cup (and they're glass cups).
The issues doesn't seem to be lack of staff, they always seem to have plenty. Our server today only appeared to have two tables. Today I had enough, and left my first $0.01 tip of my lifetime. Needless to say, I won't be going back.
- Pros: Decent Food
- Cons: Pathetic Service - Are they actresses just doing this to make ends meet
