Mikki is the BEST!. I met Mikki a few years ago and started going to Haven to get my hair colored and cut. Immediately my hair looked the best it has my entire life. Mikki helped my hair be the perfect summer blonde without frying it! Then, I went darker and even got purple highlights...my kids and I LOVED this color and cut. Besides Mikki being a talented hair colorist and stylist, she is a kind and intelligent young lady. That might sound weird, but I am near fourty years old and I want to spend two hours with someone who has a brain and some very high standards. The salon is very easy to get to. Parking is free and ample on the side streets. The coffee shop below has great food so if you are busy like me, you can grab a yummy sandwich and eat it in Haven. Yes, Haven is a little older space, but really, I don't care if it is decorated in the latest mode. I want great, affordable service. AND I always want to look hot. Best Salon For Curly Hair. If you have naturally curly hair this is the salon for you. My stylist is Cleo who happens to be the owner. She understand how to cut curly hair the proper way. She has curly hair and understands the challenges of having a head of curls. Haven also carries excellent products for taking care of your curls made by Curl Deva. DO NOT GET SERVICE HERE. this was the worst salon i have ever been to. it was filthy and the staff was unfriendly. the lady who colored my hair was unexperienced and absolutely ruined my hair!! The color she put in was orange...which was not a colored i wanted in my hair, it was an ugly orangish gold. I never disused with her that i wanted that color. then to top it off when i went home i saw a large amount of bleeders on my head from the coloring. the top of my head looked like leopard spots. i also had her do an eyebrow wax. the lighting in the salon is so horrible she couldn't tell what she was doing to my hair and eyebrows and when i got home there was still a large amount of my eyebrow not waxed so i had to tweeze the rest. she did a horrible job and I am telling everyone i know not to go to this salon.…
Not Impressed.
After reading all the positive reviews on this site, I decided to give this salon a try. I called and let them know that I was looking for someone who could work with my texture of hair and my curls
as well as someone who would also give me some insight as to what style would look best on me.
They scheduled me with Jerrilyn. Before the cut, we discussed how I have been growing my hair out over the last few months and wanted it to be refreshed as I continue that. So she began to cut, and cut and cut. She told me that she was thinning it out and that it would look shorter than it actually was. When I mentioned an area that didn't lay right, she thinned it out more rather than shape it. So now I have an area that still doesn't look right--but it's thinned out.
I was hoping that when I shampooed and styled it on my own, i'd be able to work with it, but no. Not a good cut; it's lopsided and too short--but it's thinned out (read sarcasm).
The one review mentioned how nice she was and how Jerrilyn sees the beauty on the inside. I will admit she was nice but I'd rather get a great haircut from someone I have to endure on a monthly basis than a not so impressive cut by someone who is nice.
Perhaps I've been spoiled by my previous stylist Lola who was with Lili Salon and now at a place in uptown. If anyone knows her whereabouts, I'd love to find her.…
Like a Second Home.
I have lived in Minneapolis for a long time, and believe me - have tried EVERY salon!! I have never found "the one"...until now.
The moment I walked into Haven Salon, I felt right at home. The atmosphere is very unique and welcoming, with a bohemian-chic feel.
My stylist was Bri, and right then and there I knew that she was going to be my stylist for life! I felt that she was truly knowledgeable about hair, and had some very decisive suggestions for the style direction I should follow.
She also did the most amazing color job; I could not be happier with the way my hair has turned out.
To top it all off, she has a great personality - I felt she really did care about not only my hair, but was very engaging and interested in who I truly am as a person.
After a long search, I have finally found my salon, and my stylist :)
For anyone reading this - definitely try Haven Salon.
