Since it opened on Halloween night in 1993, BLB has drawn a sundry and increasingly steady crowd. Everyone from Uptown hipsters to suburban moms and dads converge here. The BLB programmers have succeeded in creating an anything-can-happen atmosphere, managing to pack the schedule--and the house--with decidedly offbeat offerings seven days a week. The soup-to-nuts philosophy embraces monologists, musical revues, storytellers, drag queens, gonzo improv, new plays, magic shows, spoken-word performances and independent films.
