I Agree!.
I took my wife here for the date night and was told very nice things about this place.
when we arrived, immediately we were treated poorly from the employees. The food was very good, but the
service was so terrible, it ruined any chance of a fun evening.
Not recommended
wow...
these people are unbelievable. The service is outrageous here. They exude such a stuck up attitude and have zero customer service understanding.
Not worth the time and effort
awful service.
After visiting Crema, I walked away feeling not only like I'd paid entirely too much for lunch but that I'd also been treated as more of a bother for even requiring them to make my food than i was treated as a paying customer. The total unprofessional behavior of not only the counter staff, but the manager as well, turned me off from ever visiting again. After waiting to be served by two flirting counter staff members, i spoke up and received the "what do you want?" in an annoyed voice. I couldn't believe it. Because i heard the food was great, i ordered anyway...got charged for the wrong meal, was told that i was "Crazy" when i politely noted the mistake. After asking to speak to manager in order to get my money back, i was told that my business wasn't needed and if i wasn't happy then not to bother coming back...No money refund.
This place was a complete nightmare
Best cafe in Minneapolis.
Given that this place is just a few blocks away from where I live, I had been meaning to go for months. I finally stopped in for lunch one day - the tomato basil soup and croque monsieur (grilled ham & cheese) was better than I had in Paris. How had I not heard more about this place! The patio is gorgeous, the food is absolutely OUTSTANDING - very european cafe style - and they have 1/2 price bottles of wine after 9:30 pm.
Perfect quiet, reasonably-priced date place (tuesday night is date night). Organic local foods. My new favorite place in the Twin Cities - hidden gem - and incredibly charming. And despite the reviewer below, I have always found the staff to be incredibly accomodating. Intimate and inviting. You'll love it.
Indifferent, unaccommodating service spoils great food and great setting..
The last thing I expected to do was flame Crema Cafe. Their commitment to organics is unparalleled. The cooking is creative and seasonal. The ice cream is the best I've had anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, their counter staff has often left something to be desired.. Today was a new low, however. One of my daughters, having had her fill of pizza, wanted the grilled cheese that is on the lunch menu. The counter staff basically said no and blamed boss's orders. So I then asked for the simple buttered pasta and Parmesan that was previously on the dinner menu. Can't be too much trouble to whip this up, right? Apparently it is for these folks. Again, I was told no with blame spread everywhere from the boss to the supposedly busy Tuesday date night to the fact that the menu doesn't accommodate children. This was actually said to me.
I've dined at dozens of subpar, phony, overrated, overhyped, and flat out lousy places. Seldom have I walked out, as I did tonight, and never have I immediately posted a bad review as I am now. The first rule in the restaurant business is to make the customer happy. Reasonable requests for special service are to be expected and should be accommodated. Zero attempt was made toward that end this evening. Barring a productive conversation with one of the owners, I won't be back.
Me OH MY! THEY ARE NOW SERVING FOOD AND WINE!.
This is my very favorite place in the whole city. Whenever I want to make myself proud that I live in Minneapolis, I just go here!
They have just added food and wine to the menu and everything is outstanding. Everything is made in house from organic and local ingredients--major plus! I haven't had pizza like Crema's since I was on the Southern Coast of Italy. The wine list is carefully planned out with wines in the $5-$8 range. The pastas are unbelievable and I just went for Sunday brunch today---how outstanding. Who would have ever thought that the best ice cream/sorbet makers in the universe could do food like this?
The staff is friendly and wonderful and the atmosphere casual and cozy as always.
Somebody above wrote that the ice cream was expensive?!#---you get what you pay for. This is not Kemps honey, not Ben and Jerry's or Sebastan joes, this is the real deal with every piece of fruit pureed perfectly and infused perfectly in your cream and frozen just for you.
Me OH MY!
You must try Crema!. Crema Cafe has the best ice cream in minneapolis. If you're in the mood for great quality ice cream definitely go here. There are new flavors daily and you must try them all!
__sorbet to tingle the tastebuds__. The sorbet is fantastic. I believe the last two I had were blackberry cabernet and cherry cabernet. Try either of these with something complimenting, maybe vanilla or chocolate. Mmm!
What's not to like!.
This is the real deal. Italian ice, Italian setting, Italian owners. It doesn't get any better than this.
Ba da bing. Da best in da bizness.
Expensive ice cream!. Ice cream is expensive but good. However you can get sonny ice cream at a much cheaper price from your local lundy's supermarket.
