This is an Ideal Diner.. As one of the past regulars at this place I always felt it was like Cheers without the beer. They have the best and most experienced hash slingers in town so don't question them, they know what they're doing and they'll let you know it too. They'll put a glass of cold water in front of you almost before you can sit down, Their soups are homemade and the clam chowder on Fridays always runs out cuz it's so good (best in town I say). So, if you want good diner food served up hot with plenty of old fashion diner attitude, this is the place.
Best Breakfast. Small diner with friendly staff and great food. Everyone made room for out large group and the food was made quickly and tasted amazing. The pancakes are huge and delicious.
Breakfast like the one Dad used to take me to.... Counter-only seating provides first-class front-row entertainment for the floor show - namely watching the fast-order cook prepare your order. A fabulous breakfast from a fabuolous era!
Editorial Review. Small breakfast spot in southern section of Northeast on a rather desolate section of Central Avenue north of Broadway.
How small - How great!.
If it's a small (really small, only 8 stools I think) friendly place you're looking for, look no further than the Ideal Diner. Popeye and Olive Oil will love to take your order! Traditional breakfasts involving toast, eggs, bacon, pancakes - you get the drift.
Little places like this are going to be gone soon, visit while you can.
Small, But Good. A great place for breakfast! It's very small and tucked away, but this adds to the experience. Sit down at the counter and watch the cook prepare your food right in front of you. Listen to the conversations with the regulars. Not fancy like the more popular restaurants now, but the food is good and the ambiance still can't be beat.
Where everybody knows your name. What a joy to eat here. 14 stools. People slid down so we could sit together. Watching the cook make our food, slide it from the grill to a plate, turn around and set it right in front of us. Listening to all the regulars banter back and forth. The food was great, everyone was friendly. We had a great time.
