In Short – Music is the order of the evening at this cavernous, industrial-chic space in northeast Minneapolis. National tours and DJs also occasionally hit the stage, playing anything from alternative to classics from the 1950s and '60s. Themes are anything but routine--Thursdays and Saturdays feature voyeuristic "Bondage a Go-Go" parties. Expect to see a young-ish, fashionable crowd enjoying reasonably priced stiff drinks and a constantly hopping dance floor.

Potential but falls short
by TJMOR at Citysearch
I have gone to Ground Zero a few dozen times, everytime hoping for more and being disappointed. I have been going to goth and industrial clubs for over 20 years now, on both coasts and other countries. When I first moved to Minneapolis I heard people raving about how great it was, but I do not see it. It might be great for the Hot Topic generation who are under the belief that nine inch nails and marilyn manson are industrial or goth, but for someone that knows the genres and has grown up on it it is a big dissapointment. There seems to be a bsaic playlist with a few songs switched around from time to time , all the songs are basic safe "top 40 industrial" songs, when they actually do play industrial, I have yet to hear more than 3 actual goth rock songs the entire time I have been going. It is disappointing and not worth the cover charge.
- Pros: Descent space, good drinks
- Cons: fails to deliver the goth industrial theme
midnight muse shakedown
by Firebreather at Citysearch
i've been going to ground zero about 20 years now, but will have to switch to chambers because of the bait and switch practices ground zero has lately used for their cover. one recent example: on the midnight muse event on july 17 they charged $12 (over 21) and $14 (under 21) at the door. the show was advertised at $6/$8 (their usual cover) on the city pages web site, the secrets of the city web site, and in print. i was also told over the phone that very afternoon when i called them that it would be $6. i told the cashier girl and the guy stamping hands at the entrance this to no avail, it was gonna be $24 for my girlfiend and i. they were so unapologetic about the shakedown we left on principle
- Pros: long standing goth club
- Cons: aften charges higher than advertised at door
