Editorial Review for Stub & Herb's – by Christopher Bahn

In Short
Vintage megaphones and pennants dangle from the bar. Photos of Gopher triumphs deck the walls. Even the menu displays its school spirit, with a variety of sandwiches named for Big 10 schools and college-sports notables--favorites include the Purdue Boilermaker barbecue burger and the Clem Haskins grilled turkey. The beer list is long and features a great selection of local brews and imports on tap. Rack 'em up downstairs at the pool tables.

Wow, don't be so hard on old Stub. Stub and Herbs has a ton of history and the new owners have definately done a lot to restore the place. The beer selection is great and probably second to only Wiliams Pub in Uptown. The food is much improved.

Pros: Beer Selection, great location

Cons: parking

2 Star Rating: Below Average

This IS NOT the place it once was. It's a mess. Dirty, poor service, and stale food. I do a lot at the University and probably end up here 2 or 3 times a year and it is always the same. In the old days it was a regular stop, now I try to avoid it. Go if you have to...it won't scar you for life...but don't feel bad if you don't think is as great as the hype.

Pros: Location near U of M

Cons: Dirty, poor service, sub par food.

The very picture of a college bar, this is the U's unofficial heart.  See the full editorial review.
