Wonderfully kitschy, great food, strong drinks. Bring coins for metered parking or use the ramp kitty corner to the restaurant. Great vibe, adorable piano singer, delicious food. Try the galobky!!
fun, fun, fun. A group of friends and I went there and had a blast! From the piano-bar karaoke to the polka band room there was always something entertaining going on. The decor is totally fun. But, the bartenders are what keep me coming back! You might pay $8.50 for a drink, but it is worth it. The drinks are strong but do not taste that way. This was a really fun place!
Polish food and polka rule at this time-honored restaurant and lounge..
In Short
Think Vegas casino circa 1978. Glittery gold-vinyl chairs grace the dark, windowless dining rooms and retro lanterns dress up the long bar. Weekend nights, all ages occupy the red seats in the piano bar, singing along with legendary entertainer Lou Snider. The hearty Polish menu is heavy on meat and potatoes, like short ribs and prime rib. For a taste of everything, there's a sampler of pierogi, cabbage, spare ribs, kielbasa and sauerkraut.
The Best. Be sure to ask for Phil when you order a martini, he will create something memorable! He is also very entertaining. We love the people there, both customers and staff and the food is consistently wonderful. A unique place that can't be replicated or replaced.
It's all it's own.
Not trying to be New York. Not trying to be LA. Not even trying to be retro. Just being real. Whether you love live polka, love to sing with Lou live on piano, or just love to be in a different scene.... Nye's is the place! When friends visit, that's where i take them. From age 20 to 80, folks are enjoying being together and are having a good time.
Watch out though, "the stiffs are drink," if ou know what i mean... especially the jumbos.
It's An Institution. I would love for Nye's to stay around forever - simply because of it's character and history - it's a metro institution. However, don't go for the food - it's mediocre at best and way over priced. Just stop to have a 'beverage' or two and soak up the ambiance.
What happened???. Since I was a child, I have always insisted upon going to Nye's for my birthday dinner. I have also gone there to celebrate many other milestones (prom, graduation, engagement, etc.). Their food was always incredible and the ambiance can't be beat. However, we have gone there twice in the past two months and the food was terrible both times! The first time my filet mignon was as tough as beef jerky. I decided on Polish sausage and saeurkraut last night and was sorely disappointed. My husband got the filet last night and it was as tough as mine was last time. My mothers jumbo sea scallops were so overcooked they were the texture of a superball. We have always been loyal customers of Nye's, but I think that we will find another "special occasion" restaurant for the future. The service and atmosphere are still awesome though.
Who's Nye?. This place was really swell. The service was a notch above the top notch and the decor is one-of-a-kind. The tenderloin steak is excellent and you won't leave hungry. Stay away from the "Chicken Kiev", I've bought frozen entrees from my local grocery for a dollar that are comparable. Nevertheless, I would recommend this joint to anybody I know and maybe some I don't. If you're looking for a quiet dinner however, be sure to ask for the non-smoking section away from the obnoxious coctailers.
Always a great experience. Have never been disappointed by Nye's. Everyone should experience this place at least once in their lives.
Atmosphere over food. Great place I always enjoy eating at, although it's more for the atmosphere than food. Pork chops are the best, but stay around for the Polka band and the off the street talent.
