What People Are Saying About Taste Of India

In Short – Located in boxy buildings alongside highways, Taste of India's locations resemble your generic Denny's. But the similarities end with the architecture. With nearly 80 dishes, the menu offers a broad range of choices, from chicken, lamb or fish baked in the tandoor (clay oven) to lentil dal. The fish tikka (marinated, then baked in the tandoor) sizzles atop a bed of crunchy white onions, green peppers and tomatoes.
Editor's Tips
- When to Go:
- The lunch buffet (11am-2:30pm, weekdays) is especially busy on Thursdays and Fridays. To avoid overwhelming crowds, go earlier in the week.
- What to Drink:
- Taste of India has a nice variety of light, refreshing Indian beers available.
My favorite

This is my absolute favorite restaurant. I'm there about once a week. I've been to India, where I fell in love with Indian food, and many Indian restaurants here in town. There is no comparison. Everyone I have brought here loves it...from the newbies to Indian food lovers. All agree the food is delicious, and that this is a hidden gem. Even my very fussy elderly Mom loved the tender chicken. Service is friendly and warm. And the samosas are the best I've ever had. I am quite curious about the negative reviews because I have never had a bad experience, nor heard anyone complain. And I am there alot. :)
Wonderful Service and Food

I too do not understand the negative comments. I have eaten here for years. All the staff has been very freindly, efficient and sweet.
I and often my dining companions have many food allergies. I have never gotten ill as long as I chose wisely. When unexpected nuts turned up in my friend's dessert they quickly took it back and made one without. I can not eat gluten and LOVE their chicken pakora!!! I never get to eat fried chicken so it is a real treat. They also will make the food spicy if asked.
I think the negative comments are to keep the crowds away. :) I have never been there at brunch but dinner and once on New Years Eve and the staff and food was wonderful.
We Love This Place!

My husband and I eat here about once a month. I do not understand the negative comments about this place, as we have had nothing but tasty food served by friendly, smiling waitstaff every single time. (To be honest, I have a very difficult time believing two separate extremely negative reviews that say the food was bad yet "went untouched." How can that even be?)
Tonight when we were there, my husband ordered a beer, and the waiter even remembered (from a visit a couple of months ago) that I like to keep the bottle cap, and brought it to me neatly folded in a napkin.
There were several famiies with kids, and I saw no rudeness or even impatience with them whatsoever, just lots of smiles and friendly helpful behavior by the staff. Everyone seemed to enjoying their food.
Since I haven't been to India, I can't comment on what "real" Indian food should taste like (although I would think it probably varies from chef to chef just as "real" American food does). I simply like the food. They are very good about asking what heat level we want, and unlike some Indian restaurants I have visited, they know what "mild" means to a Minnesotan.
I will just end by saying that the food is tasty, service is attentive and friendly, and we will keep going back. Judging by the large number of people who were there tonight, and who seemed to be having a great time, a lot of people around here agree that it's a wonderful place.
Worst food I ever tased in twin cities
by akhilanand at Citysearch
We (~25) reached this place to have a nice time together and have a good dinner, but ended up experiencing THE WORST food.
All the non-vegetarian food was un-touched and all that we ate was little bit of starters. Seems cook only knows to add red chilli powder to spice up the dish and he seems to be un-aware of adding other spices to make the dish better.
I ended up learning that I could have prepared better food than what we paid.
- Pros: None
- Cons: everything
Go happy, leave hungry!
by shahashishb at Citysearch
Its been the worst experience in any Indian restaurant in the US. The food quality was consistently poor be it lassi, starter or main course.
We were there in a group and none of us found the food worth finishing. Most of the food stayed untouched. Service was also equally poor and staff was quite rude when we shared the feedback with them.
You might get to the place happy but guaranteed to come out hungry and dissatisfied.
- Pros: spacious
- Cons: food quality, service, hygine
