I love Wendy's Doghouse. My little Cooper sees John and he takes such good care of him! I know that he is with the groomer the entire time (appts are typically 2 hours) and not sitting in a kennel for hours like at some of the big store groomers. I trust the staff at Wendy's and I can just see how much they all love animals. I am lucky to have Wendy's in my neighborhood!
Excellent and caring groomers.
Our dog Hope was scared of anyone touching her after an aggressive dog attacked her two years ago. She has been a regular customer at Wendy's for 4 years. The professional groomers have transformed her behavior over time. They built up their trust with her , calmed her fears, worked with her and made her feel like she was so loved. She also comes back very clean , well trimmed and any minor problems are always explained. Hope now can go to the veterinarian's office with an exam without so much fear and lets others handle her again .
I would recommend Wendys as the best dog groomers in the Twin Cities. Others may be cheaper but a groomer for your dog is a relationship your dog builds with the groomer over time. They need to have routines and trust who works with them.
Go to Wendys where are all dogs are treated like Princes and Princesses!!
they did a great job. I have used Wendy's Doghouse three times now and am very happy. I will say that I read the reviews on this site so I did inquire about a couple of things. No perfume and becareful clipping the nails and around the eyes. Wendy was extremely helpful and nice to work with and my miniature poodle comes home perfectly coiffed. Too bad it only lasts for a couple of days and that I can't brush him out the way they do! He'd look perfect every day.
We LOVE Wendy!. We've had A LOT of bad luck with groomers in the past. We have a Newfoundland that's been around the block with groomers in St. Paul and Mpls. He's even been shaved ALL the way down by a "Well known" groomer on Grand Ave. We found Wendy and we couldn't be happier! She'll squeeze us in whenever she can even on short notice and they always to an amazing job! The negitave reviews posted here don't make sense to me...probably the 1/100 that has bad luck. Wendy is one of the best espically for large breeds.
disappointing.... Wendy's dog house was recommended to me by a family member who is a veterinary technician. I took my lab mix to Wendy's for the second time recently for a full overhaul - spa treatment, de-shed treatment, nails, teeth... the whole works. When I first saw my dog I was pleased, but as I was paying the $92 I owed (ouch!) one of the workers came up and sprayed my dog's neck with perfume without consulting me. Nobody had ever mentioned spraying perfume on the dog as being part of the grooming, and I was most displeased about this. If dogs are sprayed with perfume, they will hate the way they smell, and they will do everything to smell more like their doggy selves again. Lo and behold, two days after I brought my dog there, she went out for a potty break -- she pooped and immediately starting rolling herself all in her own feces - disgusting! (My dog has never done this before, so I'm quite sure it was to rid herself of the perfume's scent.) I was very unhappy about having to bathe my dog so shortly after bringing her in to be professionally groomed. The frosting on the cake was this: As I was bathing my dog, there was TONS of fur coming out of her coat, even though she'd apparently had this de-shedding treatment just two days prior. I was informed that the de-shed was supposed to remove 90% of the shedding hair, but as I was brushing my dog there was handful upon handful coming out. User beware - if you take your dog to Wendy's, make it clear to the staff that you DON'T want perfume sprayed on your dog, otherwise it will inevitably roll in poo, making the whole visit to the groomers completely pointless. Also - for those of you out there with a double-coated dog like mine -- I wouldn't recommend spending the extra cash on the de-shedding treatment, as it doesn't seem to be worth it. I doubt I will return there again.
User beware!. First time I took my large breed dog there it was terrific. Second time, it took almost all day as there was a geriatric dog that needed more attention. Understandable, but I would have preferred rescheduling rather than make me and my dog wait all day. Third time, however, he was done with a ful spa treatment in an hour! Absolutely unheard of! When I picked him up he has all kinds of razor burns and small cuts on his inner legs, abdomin and private areas. After finally reaching Wendy, she apologized for a staff member and offered a slight discount next time. But there will be no next time!
Happy Owner & Pretty Puppy!. I've been searching for a groomer to make my standard poodle look pretty and I've finally found her! When I picked my poodle up she knew how pretty she looked and pranced out of the store. I brought in a poodle calendar to show Wendy pictures of what I liked and didn't like about the various styles and I think that was helpful - so if your like me and know what you don't like, I'd bring in pictures to show Wendy what not to do. The price was very reasonable for such a great cut and I'm now a loyal customer.
Our dog looks great!. We recently took our dog to wendy's for the first time and had a great experience. Our large breed double coat newfoundland is not the easiest to clean and he looks awesome. They were helpful and did exactly what we wanted in terms of the trimming. We will be taking both our dogs back there again.
Full service dog salon. Wendy spends the time to get to know your dogs and what sort of grooming the owner wants. She will check with you before trimming (a pet peeve of mine when a groomer shaves an area without asking first). She offers promotional "spa packages" for the dogs such as massages. She has a full staff, which I prefer because I don't like the idea of one person in a salon answering the phone while my dog waits on the grooming table. Her prices are reasonable and my long haired double coated northern breed dogs come out looking beautiful, no small feat! Also, she's conveniently located a few blocks from the Minnehaha dog park, and next door to the "Canine Coach" dog training and "UrbAnimal" retail store.
personable and caring. Wendy is a down-to-earth women with a lot of patience and love for both little and big clients. I took my puppy there for his first grooming and was a little surprised to see someone so busy be soooo patient and loving towards my puppy. I will continue to take my dog "chip" there for years to come. Only thing to keep in mind is that they do not accept credit cards so bring cash or check!
