Editorial Review for 5-8 Club – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
In spirit, it's a basement rec room, with faux wood paneling on the walls, drink signs and lots of familiar faces. The screened-in porch is great for summertime dining. Not too many surprises on the all-American roadhouse menu. For starters, there's spiced buffalo wings and deep-fried cheese curds. Avoiding the mythical Juicy Lucy is not an option. The Hangover is a fried pork tenderloin sandwich, named so for its size.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoIf you don't want to look like a loser in front of all the regular diners, don't try to enter through the front door; it's locked. Go around back like everyone else.

I love going to the 5 8. We have gone there sense we were kids:) I SO wish that they would do something about the grumpy wait staff that has worked there to long. We did however go in a month ago and saw a couple new FRIENDLY faces:) You would not want to cast new peeps away with rude staff. I am glad to see the change:)
Pros: FOOD
Cons: some service

They have very good Juicy Lucy's which are second only to Matt's Bar. The buffalo popcorn chicken with bleu cheese is a great appetizer to start with and the fries are very good as well. This is a great dive bar with a very interesting history in bootlegging. I've had great service every time I've been there. I've had to wait a few times to be seated during supper but not too long.
Pros: Great food, good service, parking lot
