Terrible Haircut. I got one of the worst hair cuts I have ever gotten in my life at Village Hair. I had an appointment for 8pm, I had to wait 45 minutes for the hair stylist to realize that I was there. I had long hair and asked her to cut my hair to shoulder length and give me a few long layers. I'll give her credit, at least she did give me shoulder length hair. The problem is that she gave me very choppy and short and long layers - it looked like a mullet. I'm trying to grow out my hair now and it looks as terrible as it did when I first walked out of the salon.

Also, I got a referral from a friend and told the woman who checked me out so my friend could get their promotion of Refer a Friend and both get a $20 gift certificate in the mail. She never got one and neither did I. Not only do they hold forth a bogus promotion, they give terrible hair cuts. Never again.

excellent and comfortable salon. I have been to Village twice for an all-over color and a haircut with Kara. I agree with a previous reviewer that Kara is wonderful. She has a gentle, friendly, and thoughtful personality and asks all the right questions about my hair. In addition, she exhibits excellent technical skill and knowledge. She also demonstrates great knowledge of Aveda products, but I never feel pressured by an up-sell. If you're looking for someone who really listens and consistently performs extremely well, I highly recommend Kara.

Great Partial Foil. Everyone was very friendly. My hair dresser Sam did an excellent job on my partial foil & Cut. I have an event this weekend and it will be remembered. Pricing is normal for an Aveda shop. No up selling (nice!).

Just told me about products that I could really use. Pleasant and close.

Great place, mediocre massage. Very nice salon and the staff was very friendly. Went in for a 60 minute body massage and left with a neck rub and well oiled lower back that came up to $80 with the tip. Could've spent that on something else.

Reasonable rates, pleasant service, beautiful results. New to Village Hair Co, Kara did a lovely job with my full foil and cut. Kara asked the right questions to ensure the end results met my expectations (finely spliced highlights rather than chunky sections, exact place I like to part my hair, whether or not I wear my hair in a ponytail, how I like to wear my bangs, etc.) Kara was knowledgeable about the Aveda product line and made appropriate recommendations when asked but did not try to up-sell me.

I enjoyed a complimentary chair massage while my color processed--and was given an additional hand massage when I commented that I spend all day at a keyboard.

Parking was free and convenient, decor was simple but welcoming, atmosphere was casual and chatty, prices were reasonable for an Aveda salon (see their website for specials). I will definitely be back.

Best full service salon in South Minneapolis. Village Hair is the best, everyone is talented, professional, and fun. Some are even entertaining (did I say Rosie!). Services are extensive and prices just about right. The offerings are the same as those fancy, schmacy places downtown but with a true south Minneapolis flair for making you feel comfortable and special.

What more could a girl want?. If you haven't given this salon a try, you are missing out on a great treat for yourself. Shawn and his staff of highly trained and down-to-earth technicians can work their magic on your hair, skin, nails and self esteem! I have been going there for several years and have yet to be disappointed.

I am going for the divalicious party with my best girls and look forward to wine, food from Al Vento and a dream like pedi next.

Favorite Hair Place. I love this salon! It is in walking distance from my house, in the best little niche in the neighborhood. The staff are all wonderful (especially Erin). I absolutely recommend it.

outstanding talent at neighborhood salon. What a true gem!!! It was such a wonderful experience at Village Hair Company. The staff was VERY friendly and got an awesome haircut at an awesome price!!! The new owner Shawn has transformed this gem into a great local shop with great staff and a great look and feel!! Will definitely recommend to everyone and be back!! A definite uptown shop in little Nokomis!
