In Short – Patel's is the premier purveyor of Indian foods and ingredients for the Twin Cities' Indian population, as well as for adventurous eaters who got turned on to this rich, spicy cuisine in restaurants or abroad. It's a small space, but the selection is impressive: produce, teas, breads, chutneys, curry pastes, rice, flours, dried beans and even beauty products. Bollywood movies are available for rent and a good selection of Indian music is sold here, too.
expensive grocery with worst indian food
by Raj88
I agree with one of the reviwers. It is very expensive. If you compare the price with the grocery stores in other states then it is extremely expensive. It is expensive even compared to the nearby stores. I would recommend going to close by indian grocery stores. Parking is also one of the main concerns. I would not go there next time. It is not the only indian grocery store in the city and consumers today have choices.
I am not sure if the indian eating place called Hyderabad House is owned by Patel grocery, which is attached to the building. I along with my friend decided to try out that place after shopping at Patel grocery and boy that is very expensive and low grade service. There was no such thing called service. The supposedly manager was almost sleeping on his chair and customers had to get their own water including silverwares. There was nobody for the refills as well. As being a student in the hospitality industry, I could tell from my experience that the food was cooked in the morning and they would use the same food throughout the day. If they ran out of something then they would not make more as they ran out of one time and that was the answer I got. I noticed that some food items were placed on warmer which is a good news but guess what the bad news is??? The warmers were not turned on!!!!! So they were cheating customers!!! I dont know if they were trying to save electricity as warmers do consume good amount of power. I paid $9 for lunch buffet and it was the worst food and service in my life. The funny thing is, they even had a place on the receipt for tips. I am curious to know who would tip them for such kind of food and service.
Please do a favor to yourself and eat at Mc Donalds or any other fast food rather than eating at Hyderabad House!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Pros: good selection of items
- Cons: expensive and the worst indian eatery
