Tips for Gasthof Zur Gemutlichkeit

A Huge Disappointment. We visited there with our family on a Saturday night. We didn't have reservations (there were gobs of tables open) and the hostess gave me the most sour, stone-cold look and silence.

Okay, we instantly loved the atmosphere. Singing, music, loud German toasts. Our kids got a real kick out of it. However, the "loud" toasts grew more and more drunken until you couldn't hear yourself think.

We love German food, but this was a disappointment. The spaetzle was awful - watery and overcooked. For $22, I expected it to be delicious. My 4-year-old who loves spaetzle spit it right out. My husbands meal looked fabulous, but fell short again. For $22, the salty/oily dish needed a serious upgrade. Way too overpriced for what you get. I don't think I've said that about anywhere else. It was that startling of contrast between food and price.

Disappointed in the service we received!. It was our first time there - it was a great atmosphere. The musicians were wonderful!

Our waiter was a huge disappointment - he lacked any personality and gave poor recommendations to us as first time customers.

He recommended a platter and then told us we were required to order for three (three women) and more than half of the platter was not eaten. The food was good, however we should have ordered three separate meals instead. The waiter seemed hurried and never once had a smile on his face. This restaurant came highly recommended to us and we had looked forward to it!! The waiter really was a disappointment and it definitely affected our experience.

With a bill of over $40 a piece - I would recommend somewhere with service to match!

What an atmosphere!. We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Gasthof's. The service was excellent and there was fun for young and old alike. I had the Veal Parmesean with Hot Potato Salad and asperagus. All was well cooked. The entertainment was priceless and was enjoyed by our entire party. The pricing of the food was very reasonable as well. I would highly recommend Gasthof's to anyone.

One Hell of a Good Time!!!. Oh, for fun! I can't tell you what a great time this was. It is for young and old. I seen both ages there and all were having a great time. We went on a Friday night and enjoyed the live music...who would have thought an accordian player could be so fun? The wonderful trumpet player standing on my table...what a view! Ooolala! Oh, forgot, hubby was with...........mmmmm. They got the crowd fired up with HOI HOI HOI yelling, I have no idea what that even means but we had a great time yelling it and then toasting with everyone. Be prepared to meet new people. It seems this place has a tendency to make you part of any crowd that is there. The dancing was so much fun...and I can't dance! Was it the beer, food or atmosphere? I don't know but do not pass up this place. Yah, Yah, Oompah all day!

I can't forget to tell you, the food was great and plentiful. Just our leftovers fed us for 2 days. We ordered one of their platters that gave us huge samples of a lot of German foods. AND...don't forget dessert. THEN...they serve Applekorn after you are done eating. I guess it is Apple Schnapps but it sure went down smooth. Oh, yah, a good time was had by all!

Never had the food, but boy is the bar fun!. This review is just for the downstairs bar:

Had an absolute blast here! The bartenders are great, the drinks are delicious, great beer selection and the servers walk around offering free snuff to anyone. My hubby had quite a lot! My girlfriend suggested a mixed drink they have there that is called "tie me to the bedpost". Lord only knows what is all in it, but it comes in a very large mug and only one is needed for the whole night! Quite tasty. The men all split the beer boot. That is a fun time as well. Only con I can give it is that I had a sore arm later in the evening from holding my huge mug and the beer boot all night! :) Great place!

Best German food this side of Bayerisch!. We describe Gasthof as "The German Restaurant owned by a Polish guy named Mario."

Where do I start - try one of the platters, they'll make it for the number in your party - and it comes with a shot of AppleKorn for each diner at the end of the meal! If you don't want so much food, try the smoked chops, wienerschnitzel, jagerscnitzel... The sides are great too - red cabbage, spaetzle, dumplings. A great selection of German beers - we advise you to order the .5 liter size so you can try more than one type of beer.

We love to bring family and friends, especially out-of-towners. But don't bring anyone who wants a quiet dinner - it can get loud when there is a crowd! Get into the spirit by singing along with the strolling musicians - be sure to ask for "Dos a beer...". On weekends there are musicians in both dining rooms.

If you are there on Friday or Saturday night, come on downstairs to the KellerBar and work off dinner by dancing a Polka or two. In Spring and Fall, there is also a tent on the parking lot for several weeks with a limited menu & a band on Friday and Saturday nights. Sit at the long tables with friends, or sit with strangers and meet some new people!

Get your polka on!. Gasthof's rocks! Have the bartenders make your crew some of the firey cinammon shots--delicious! This place brings out really good looking guys who like to have fun! There is an amazing selection of German beers and the bartenders and bouncers are all really friendly. I've also eaten here and the food is delicious! Ein prosit!

German at its best. The food here is great! I had the Wienerschnitzel, the best Ive ever had. My guest had the the Rouladen, which was wondeful. Stay away from the potatoe salad.

There are 14 German beers on tap which are served in 1/2, 1, and 2 liter containers.

Fantastic. One of the better German places I have been too. I would definatley come here again. Pretty much everything that needs to be said about the place has been said in other reviews, so I just ditto everything. If you are going solo like I usually am on work trips, they do have a platter for one wich is awesome. You get to sample a lot of different foods, and its very difficult to finish. I didnt make it 1/2 way through the patter. I think it was $18.

Sing "Roll out the Barrel" accompanied by strolling accordionists and waltz merrily with the servers.. In Short
Each of several large dining rooms reflects a different German theme, with walls of Bavarian scenes and traditional Sprichwörter (German proverbs) carved into ceiling beams. This guesthouse serves rouladen (beef rolled around bacon and a dill-pickle spear), sauerbraten (marinated roast beef), grilled sausages and schnitzel. Persuade a friend to share one of the combo platters and try it all: three meats, salad, vegetables, dumplings, fried potatoes, potato salad, red cabbage and sauerkraut.
