Ill be the first to admit i know
nothing about cars but i do know about customer service and in that they are lacking. they treated me snidely from the start and never actually managed to execute the repair to a satisfactory level. and it was a major job so i was happy to go in a few extra times for tweaks. but i went in 5 times with the same problem.
I will NEVER go here again. And would not recommend it.
Boby and Steve's auto world has gone new lows.. These folks are making good business in twin cities area for nearly 30 years i believe and individual owners had become wealthy. One of the old practice of trap and tow your vehicle for lucrative business in expanse of innocent victim. Boby and Steve of france ave is just that they are absolutely the new low life scrambling for the last shredded $. Park by the bulding next to cowboy jacks never been a problem for the building owner before but these low life's have gone to the building management and offer free tow should there anybody park there to entertained at CB jacks Boby Steve must have there share $$ by towing it cross the 494 and charging you $182 and City or State leting it happend. Shame on Bloomington/Edina City. I have they choke taking those who work very hard earn and when comes to weekend these guys are hiding behind the building to take your $$$.. Poor and very old business practice of scammer. This is 21st century and we have to live with dishonest folks right on the exit of France and 494..
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
If I could rate a negative 1 star, this is where I would do it. When the shift lock broke in my car I had to call AAA to get it towed and they sent a truck from Bobby and Steve's. I asked them to take it to my usual shop and drop it off for them to work on during the week as it was closed on Sunday. The truck driver said that it was a simple problem and Bobby and Steve's were open and could fit it in that afternoon without a problem, allowing me to get the car back by end of day, so I reluctantly agreed. I later discovered that the truck driver gets $100 for every car he gets sent to Bobby and Steve's versus dropping off somewhere else.
The week proceeded as follows: no follow up, no call backs each time they said they would. They didn't finish my car for two days and then wanted me to pick it up right away to get it out of their lot due to space issues, despite large inconvenience to me. Every time they talked with me they were extremely rude and tried to get me off the phone quickly. When I picked up the car there was a HUGE, deep scratch across the windshield that they couldn't explain. They refused accountability, refused to fix it for me, and refused to use their insurance to fix it AND made me use my insurance to cover it. They offered no discount on any service whatsoever and were very agressive and condescending with me despite my best attempts to be polite in dealing with the situation. When I returned to pick up the car the second time, the blinkers didn't work when I used the brakes. They also refused any accountability for this and I had to adamantly argue with them even to get them to re-check everything to see if they accidentally messed something up.
Finally, $500, an insurance claim, and a lot of snarky attitude later, I got my mangled car back and took it to my usual mechanic. He said I got swindled on the shift lock, that it didn't need replacing at all, and that they most likely screwed something up with the wires of the brakes while they were replacing it. He said he's seen tons of customers come from Bobby and Steve's with very similar stories and he can't believe they're still in business due to their level of corruption.
Watch out for this place. This was a horrible and expensive experience that could've been completely avoided.
I love Bobby & Steve's.
I love this place. I go to several of the locations regularly, but most often visit the 58th & Nicollet location. The employees have ALWAYS been very friendly and cheerful and seem to really like working there. One employee told me it was a great place to work, that they're treated very well, and that his boss had even helped him buy a car. I love that I can go there late at night and feel safe. I like that I can get an oil change when it's convenient for me and not have to make an appointment like at the dealership. I also love how much they give back to the community-they donate a lot of money, sponsor neighborhood events, and have a foundation ffor under-privileged kids.
I've had 2 tires repairs done there and couldn't be happier-each time they found the leak and patched it and only charged me $30.
I ran out of gas once. My husband came with gas but the car still wouldn't start. So I called Bobby & Steve's for a tow. I was a little nervous because it was dark out and my husband had to leave (we have 2 small kids), so I was a little nervous as a woman. But the driver was very professional, very friendly, empathetic, and made me feel very safe. He actually moved my car first instead of towing it and when it was angled differently it started up. I think I was only charged about $45 and the guy spent an hour with my car. He didn't charge me the full price for a tow. I was grateful as it had been a very rough day.
I have also taken advantage of some of their groupon-type offers, which have been fantastic deals.
Customer Service a bit on the sleazy side....
I think these guys went to the Jerry Lundegaard School of Salespeople (sleazy businessman from the movie "Fargo".) They used a lot of cliched phrases like "We're trying to work with you here." and "What can we do to make this right?" when I was upset that they weren't honoring a groupon-type deal I had purchased. In their defense, they had no idea how the deal worked, which is something that someone in management should have explained to them. They didn't understand that I had already paid money up front for the services I was getting. They just thought it was a $15 off coupon. So they tried to give me a bad deal saying they were losing money...but they never factored in that I had ALREADY paid money up front.
On top of that, one guy was aggressive and rude. He looked like he was going to jump across the counter and beat my head in. After the work was done, he made sure to mention twice how great the oil was that I got. "That's Mobil 1 you got." and "Yep, and remember that's Mobil 1 we put in there for you." Maybe not the best guy to have at the front counter working with customers.
Finally, my favorite part was when the manager told me how much he was fleecing customers and that's why he wouldn't give me the full value of my deal. He told me the "value" of a tire rotation was stated as $19.99 but it only cost him about $5.00 in labor costs. He also told me that a car wash really only cost him about $1.50 even though he charged $8.00 for one. So even though the "value" of those parts of the deal was $27.00 he really should only honor about $6.50 of it. Finally they worked with me and I paid about what I last paid at the DEALER for the same service even with the coupon I bought!
In the end, they showed me that they had given me a deal that was $2.00 less than their cost and told me it was like they were paying me $2.00 to change my oil. Again they forgot that I had already PAID $15.00 so they were still making $10.00- $13.00. Not a lot of profit, but that's how these pre-paid deals are supposed to work. A customer buys a deal and goes to place because it's super cheap. That gets a customer in the door and when they see how great the business is they come back and pay full price. I guess these guys really blew it because not only did they not make much of a profit, they didn't earn me as a customer. Yikes! Stay away.
Does not honor labor or customer satisfaction agreement.. Brought in my car for tire rotation a couple weeks' ago. When it came time to put on our winter tires it was determined Bobby & Steve's over torqued the bolts. We had to spend in excess of $250 to have the bolts drilled out by a different shop. When presented with information, Bobby & Steve's would not take responsibility for their error or offer to pay for damage to our vehicle. I would not trust them with my vehicle or to follow up on their labor guarantee.
Customer Service At It's Finest..............What do you think?. I agree with the previous review. I felt so bad that I have been going there for years. My dear friend just went through alot when parts where installed wrong in the car and they took this person to court. Now is that customer service or what? I will "never" go back there in this life time. They are only good for gas, not reparing vehicles. I was very dissapointed when I work for a car dealership and know about cars for over 29 years. I do believe if something is repaired wrong, than the customer should receive a "full" refund for the repair amount paid. In this case, they lost a very valuable customer for years, and with that other customers too leave...word does spread around!!! They do not have experience workers, and they need to stick to gas and snacks, just like SA. So much for them!!! Be Ware!!!!
Worst ripoff ever!!!!!!.
Very inflexible time of service, extremely expensive and I ended up blowing $340 for "service" that added absolutely no value to my vehicle.
If you are up to be ripped off you should definitely let them perform some "service" on your car.
Best Shop in town. These guys are great. Best Gas Prices in the area as well as fast friendly service at the auto repair. I go there for all my oil changes and major repairs. I own a Volkswagen Passat and they have a Technician that used to work for VW and Audi so he know how to do very intricate repairs faster and cheaper than the dealer!!.
