One of the best in the twin cities – I have recently discouvered this place and since doing so its changed the name 3 times, but the people and food inside remain identical (and thank goodness). You would not expect to find great thai food in the Midwest and up until recently the only place that warranted four stars was The King & I, however, over the last few years something interesting has developed, smaller thai places with very authentic (and very unauthentic but fabulous) food have sprung up. Ketsana's Thai is amoung the best. Interestingly enough, although I'm not an expert, I'd wager that the menu is sort of a fusion between thai and vietnamese. My favourite menu item is the Rama Thai Curry, which combines the well known peanut sauce with coconut curry. This is not really a traditional thai dish, but given how great it tastes, it should be! I generally order this with Vegetables and not meat which is amazingly satisfying for someone who's admittedly not a vegetarian. I am also a big fan of Panang Curry, although, sadly Ketsana's panang gai is underwhelming.

Over all, I am very glad this place exists and hope it does well.

Where did Ketsanas go – Ok! I know its no longer there....but I was really bummed that they closed down. The service did S*CK, no doubt about that, unfriendly with no smiles. However, the food was fabulous. I have dined there with friends for years at least once or twice a month. Best Thai I have had. It was a shack of a building, really horrible but who cared when the food was really good

I wouldn't be going back to Ketsana's – Food, service and ambience terrible. I ordered the spicy Thai noodles without bean sprouts and I was served a plate of noodles with not much else in it. It was also very greasy. Was not worth the $12 they charged. Upon leaving, I paid the waitress up at the counter with my CC and left her 0 for tips since I?d left cash on the table. She assumed I was leaving her nothing and she snatched the receipt from me and gave me a dirty look.

I wouldn?t be going back.

Huge portions – I was expecting mediocre service after reading other reviews. We were surprised to have excellent, friendly service. We ordered an appitizer combo that could easily feed 4 people for only $8.75. The Pad Thai was not only yummy, but enough for 2-3 to share. Traditionally portions in Thai restaurants are smaller than you might get with Chinese food. These portions were big enough for several people to share. The Tom Yum soup was the perfect blend of Coconut milk and lemongrass. Maybe the best I've ever had. If you're staying in the area around Mall of America, this may be the only independently owned Thai place close by.

I would go back again, for sure!

Wicked good food! – I dined at Ketsanas on Friday evening with some girlfriends. We were seated immediately even with a sizable group, and there were actually plenty of tables open as well. We had spring rolls as appetizers (mediocre) and I had Spicy Cashew Curry with Tofu for my entree. Seriously, awesome!! The server warned us that spicy is "extremely" spicy, so I order my meal medium-spicy. It was on the bland side, spice-wise. It's so hard to order your level of spice at varying restaurants, because I prefer eye watering spicy, but not full blown tears! Anyway...Overall the meal was excellent and the service was fine. This was a quiet restaurant without much ambiance, but sometimes, I just prefer these kinds of places vs. the hustle and bustle (and long waits!) of "trendier" places uptown or downtown, etc. Parking is easy, location is pretty convenient (76th and Lyndale), so overall an excellent choice for a low-key evening!

Food is OK at best and Service Poor – Yep, the Service is really as bad as other reviewers indicate. This is because the person assigned to the front stays in the back.

Food is just OK. Over reliance on sweet to achieve flavor. All dishes are short on meat and long on rice noodles. The classic dish Beef Salad is far from classic. Has peanuts and only a sweet sauce rather than the normal limey sauce.

Spicy heat levels are normal Thai levels. No liquor.

Avoid alltogether – The service is terrible. The waitress makes you feel like you are only there to inconvenience her. The food was about average, nothing to write home about. I orderd the chicken satay, and it was overcooked and dry. I also did not find out until my food was served that they were out of the peanut suace for my satay. For the main course, I ordered the Yellow curry chicken. It was about average. The smallest portion I have ever recieved at any Thai restaurant. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Unassuming digs offer traditional Thai grub to foodies and ex-pats. – In Short
From the outside, it recalls a diner--small, white and oddly shaped, with metal-rimmed windows. Inside, red vinyl booths are pressed against bare walls. Fresh spring rolls, stuffed chicken wings, kickin' pad thai and curry chicken are among the many traditional Thai dishes that practically fly out of the kitchen minutes after you order them. Favorites include pad bai kra prao, a stir-fry with sweet basil, onion, mushrooms, peppers and your choice of meat or tofu.

Long wait... poor service – This was my third time to Ketsana's and it was the worst service I have received from a sit down restaurant in a long time. Don't get me wrong, the food is above average, but the service is terrible. Upon sitting down I was given a glass of water. This was the only glass of water that would present itself over the duration of my meal. Once we were done eating, we waited 10 minutes to get the bill from our waitress, but she never showed. The gal at the register simply said, "Sorry, but I'm not your server". Maybe you should only go here during off peak hours?

Decor? With food like this, who needs decor? – Not only did Ketsana's disprove the hotel desk clerk's assertion that "there are no Thai restaurants around here," it proved that even within a neighborhood some of the best things in life can go unnoticed. The Pho was incredible, topped with fresh cilantro and accompanied by a wonderful plate of herbs and spices to add to the indescribable aroma. I believe I ate three of my next five meals at Ketsana's and was thrilled with the food quality, quantity, the smiling, friendly and -- contrary to other reviews here -- attentive wait staff each time. The pad Thai is to die for -- you pick the level of heat (pain?). Mild to wild, you choose. Did anyone mention the Chimichanga-sized spring rolls? Are they ever fragrant, tasty and FRESH!
