This is by far my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Twin Cities. The prices are reasonable and the food is great. I haven't tried everything on the menu, but I haven't been disappointed yet. I particularly like the egg rolls and the fried rice.
Good food, reasonably priced. The decor is not great, but what it lacks it makes up for in the quality of the food. I have eaten here more than once and have ordered take-out frequently and have not been disappointed. The staff are friendly, but not to the point that the next customer is delayed in having his/her order taken.
Happy customer. My family has been eating here for many years, we never disappoints, great food an reasonable priced & great service , the portions very consistency. The best Hot & Sour soup, Sesame Chicken, my grandmother like the chicken chow mein alot. sometime I will order take out the house fried rice and chicken veggie had alot meaty very delicious . always been exceptional and the friendly service. we love to try the specials items good deal and large portion, too. you want get good food ,worth it to go try at the red pepper . happy and love it.
Mediocre Food With Unfortunate Service. My wife and I went there on sort of an impromptu date. We ordered the dinner special for two for $13.99 which was a decent deal. The food came out within about 10 minutes and tasted like pretty standard chinese takeout quality food...a notch above a buffet, but not great. They refilled our water a few times which was nice. They didn't take their time in bringing ou the check. It came out and wasn't much more than a piece of paper with scribble marks. I should have caught it, but after a long day I didn't notice they included the tip on the bill(in chicken scratch. In addition to that I left 20% on the table. As we were walking out, they didn't say good bye, but instead asked "Did you remember to leave anything for your server?" That floored me and I almost took back the tip at that point, but decided to leave it. In summary, I'd say mediocre Chinese food with poor customer service that left a sour taste in my mouth. Needless to say, I don't think we will be going back.
Should have trusted my gut.
and turned right around and walked out. Noon on a Saturday and only two tables were taken. The one and only worker (server/host/busboy) noticed us waiting to be seated but decided to wipe down three more tables before showing us to one. Handed us the menus with the briefest of hellos and disappeared for ten minutes.
The soup was bland and watery and the wontons had the texture of day old cheese puffs. The egg rolls were big but nothing special. I ordered the sesame chicken which tasted like sickeningly sweet orange chicken. I could have sworn they gave me the wrong order but it was covered in sesame seeds. Do not get the sesame chicken. Just don't go here. The nothing-special-generic sauce on the sweet and sour pork sure didn't make up for how tough and overcooked it was. I'm surprised they didn't somehow mess up the white rice, the only part of the meal that I could actually stomach.
Throughout it all the server did manage to once refill our water glasses and was all to happy to hand us the bill. Disregard the plaques on the wall and the newspaper clippings on the front door and stay far, far away from the Red Pepper.
Don't bother really... Two server ladies. One sweet and the other sour. The sour one makes your stay very uncomfortable by relentlessly bugging you. The food is average and Pricey!...They seemed to have raised their prices recently. To make it all worse, they charge you 15% upfront tips on the total bill and I say WHAT!..The service is bad and you still pay the full tip. The cashier is rude on the top of that. If you go there, just go without expectations.
Good. I read some of the other people’s reviews and not sure what they ordered but everything I ordered was flavorful - especially for Chinese. I thought it was pretty good and would go back for sure. I noticed service is bad in a lot of “smaller” Asian restaurants. You just have to tell them they’re being rude and they usually back off.
NASTY, NASTY, NASTY!!!!!!!!!!!. This is one of the worst places I have ever eaten at! The service was horrible & the food was completely unedible. And the cost was outrageous! Lunch "specials" were $15.00?!!? I would not recommend this place to anyone. No wonder it was empty the day I was there....
POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Customer service is very poor. I ordered a take out order and asked for sweet and sour sauce. She wanted to charge me .10 for each packet. I had just spent $40 on dinner. If I would have been dining in I wouldn't have been charged. The clerk didn't bother to thank me as I walked out the door. That is the last time I will be ordering from Red Pepper.
WORST CHINESE FOOD EVER!!!!. This was, by far, the WORST chinese food I have ever had! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Where do I begin? (1.) The prices were WAY too high. No lunch menu & $14 for an entree. We got the cheapest things that we could find on the menu- chicken chow mein & pork chow mein. What we got was a big bowl of cooked celery w/ a little bit of rice on the side! Bland & tasteless to say the least! (2.) The service was horrible! We saw our waitress 3 times during the whole meal- once to take the order, once to ask if we needed anything else, & once to drop off the check. We were never even asked if we needed more water! We had to get up & find her just to ask for a straw & chopsticks. I guess that explains why the place was empty. There was another family that came in while we were eating & they left right away after seeing the prices. Even they said that the prices were outrageous! AVOID THIS PLACE! THE FOOD IS HORRIBLE & OVER PRICED & THE SERVICE IS EVEN WORSE!!!!
