I ordered a pizza for the second time in a week and a half and in the second time I came in and was told my order was not placed. I was given a free beer both times and 1/2 off my pizza the second trime. I came home to find a 1/2 cooked pizza. I called in and was given the owner who said you got 1/2 off and a free beer what more do you want. I was pissed off and hung up. He finally called back and sent a free pizza, I never have complained but I think the owner only did something because I am known in the community and could cause problems. The owner was very redr.
Eat at Papa's

Ok, It's not swanky, or fancy- but for those of us who have no desire for those things, this place is #1. Let's start at the top,
the food
I've eaten here many times now and I've never had bad food. I've had average food, but more often than not it impresses me. The menu has many standards that are done well, breakfast(a friend complained that the mushrooms in her omelet were canned and inferior to fresh.) burgers and fries, fish'n'chips(another friend's favorite), meatloaf. I've never had better coleslaw. The highlight is their specials. They have daily breakfast, lunch and dinner specials that vary often, a daily soup and a couple random sandwich specials thrown in. Nine times out of ten the specials are fantastic. Also, pies and cakes for 2.25 per slice.
Bringing us to point #2,
the price:
As I attempted to purchase a gift certificate for $25, my waitress put it best- "It's kind of hard for two people to spend $25 here, are you sure you don't want to make it $20 or $15?" Enough said.
Bringing us to point #3,
the service:
Kind, caring, direct, prompt, and consistent.
the atmosphere:
Well... it's a diner. There are bar stools, a refrigerator with cans of Coke, tacky decor, classic "order up" kitchen bell, and a 20" TV in the corner. It has a small town feel.
I have worked for and eaten at many restaurants around the Twin Cities, on any given occasion if someone asked where I wanted to go eat, I'd probably say Papa's.
Best Pancakes I have ever had
by rzempel at Citysearch
Papa's has super thin, but large pancakes. They are best with blueberries or raspberries. Has a more unique menu than one would think for a diner. Great burgers and reubens. Have dessert elsewhere though.
- Pros: The food
- Cons: Not much for ambience
