Find alternatives to this school. I will not write a huge review - there wouldn't be enough room. They changed their name to Anthem College...you'll understand why if you enroll - no school wants to be affiliated with Highy-Tech Institute. Be prepared to work in a boot camp environment. Be prepared to work with an instructot who is not educated in teaching, forgets what is going on, and may be mentally ill. I am not saying that out of ire, she really does need help and fast. You will not be noticed unless you get on the good side of the instructors. Instructors throw instruments and try to humiliate you in front of other students. Who wants to go there? They work for us! Anthem only wants numbers and money..that is all I can say.
Avoid at all costs - run away - fraud.
WARNING - WARNING WARNING
They don't even deserve any stars.
Their associate degree massage therapy (MT) program is a complete fraud.
The instructors had no diplomas indicating what massage schools they had ever attended. You are not allowed to teach massage therapy unless you have credentials to teach others. You also have to have practitioners insurance to give massage therapy to others. The students had no health practitioner insurance to work on each other or in the clinic (it is required). I saw no insurance credentials for the instructors either.
Students showed up whenever they wanted, instructors put worn-out see-through sheets on nude female students so you could see everything, including pubic hair. A number of students acted as though you had to stop the class and go over everything they missed because they were late. The clinic was cold, dark, creepy, and unprofessional.
There was also a student who was not supposed to be getting massage therapy (according to his doctor it was contraindicated) and the instructor/s said they would work on him anyways.
This "school" is/was owned by 9 doctors when I went there for one month (I couldn't get out of there fast enough). When we were invading Iraq several years ago, one of the "doctors" was running around the school in camouflage clothing, as though he was already on the battlefield. (All he seemed to be missing was his rifle.) I thought this school was bonafide because of the financial aid. NO way! They've changed their name (Anthem) to fool their detractors, but it makes no difference at all.
Fraud, fraud, fraud.
A similar fraud was/is practiced at St. Paul College, who also initiated an associate degree massage therapy program. Avoid that program at all costs.
That instructor, who also did not display his MT credentials, nor did he make sure students had practitioner insurance to work on each other and in the clinic, used hypodermic needles on students (injecting muscle relaxant into each other). He allowed them to use those needles on each other. That is completely illegal.
They Care about their students. This school is absolutely amazing. The people in admissions are truly caring passionate people. My admissions person followed me throughout my entire program to make sure I was happy and doing well. The classes are extremely hands on and the instructors are always there to lend a helping hand. Their student services department is amazing, they help students find part time jobs, daycare, transportation, housing, etc. This school really wants their students to be successful. Thank GOD! It is time schools starting caring about people and not just taking their money.
Changed my life!. I have to say Thanks to HTI! I was in a job that was going no where. Only making enough money that paid the bills and didn't really respect myself. Thanks to them I have made a change from job to a career. I'm happy being in medical occupation. They gave me the building blocks to really make something of myself. Thanks High-Tech Institute.
BEWARE of this so-called school of higher learning!.
I just wanted to let everyone know that they should stay away from this school. It is the worst school ever! The admissions poeple just try to get there numbers. Admissions say they only let a select few people in but they let everyone in. Everything is scripted and they just want your money. The teachers come and go and a lot aren't even qualified to be teaching. They don't provide a good learing enviorment and the staff is unbelievalbly not helpful.
**BE AWARE - DON'T LET THEM FOOL YOU!**
Total Scam. This place is a joke. 1-You dont get to think about signing up, 2- if you try to leave without signing up they harrass you til you do, 3- if you do attend it will not prepare you for what you will encounter in the real job, 4- look into how many teachers have been fired for being inappropriate with students. This place was a waste of my time and money. If this stops just a few people from making my mistake it was worth it.
Scam. Do not attend this Institute it is a complete scam. The application process is a joke. They sit you down and try to convince you they only want people that are sure they want to go back to school. Then they try to get you to sign up on the spot without thinking it over. Advise. Don't even go in to listen to what they say!
