In the early 1980s, we opened this restaurant in Minneapolis. After the city remodeled the old building, we decided to move to Bloomington in hopes of expanding our business. Today we are going on over 20 years in business and many of you have become our friends. Part of being a small operation gives us the chance to walk around and get to know our customers. This is the best part of our business. We strive to provide a family environment; in fact, many times you may have seen our whole family working together. We strive hard to make our food enjoyable to the public. Fresh ingredients and spiced the way you like, we hope that you enjoy our food. We offer vegetarian and non-vegetarian options and accommodate whatever level of spice you can handle. …
Delicious & Authentic Indian Food in a Cozy Atmosphere!!!. Whether you love Indian food or you're just checking it out for the first time...you'll lovee the food here!!!!!! Menu is easy to sift thru and there's something for every taste...& as an added bonus there are great vegetarian options. Management & staff are extremely warm and inviting - making it feel like you're own "neighborhood" spot. Great place to step away for lunch or a nice evening out. Highly, highly recommend!!!
Just like eating in India.
I work for the Discovery Channel and have ventured to India many times for filming. Through my voyages I have become addicted to curry. Whenever I am in town I make it a point to visit Tandoor. The food is incredible. Even better then what you get in India. There is no other restaurant like it. I have read the reviews and they make no sense. If you want real Indian food this is the place. Trust me.
The Chicken Makhani is a must. Creamy and spiced the way you like it. Nan is fresh and soft. The restaurant prides itself in their old recipes. The food should speak, not the service.
If you get a chance, check it out. You won?t be sorry.
Worst Customer Service:Manager Looking As if we are there for free Food..
Food is quite tasty in this place but u cant enjoy it--the manager guy is so rude and hostile that u will feel like getting out of this place.
He is taking orders saying"next,next,next!!!"
It surprises me how they still get customers--may be indians are OK with ill behaviour.
Great Food. This restaurant has a good atmosphere and great food. From my experience the staff has always been attentive and pretty friendly. My friends and I really like this restaurant and I definitely recommend it.
Will not be going back for the Bad treatment. I do like the food and so does my husband however the man behind the counter was extremely unfriendly. I almost felt as if he was doing me a favor by serving me. Additionally, when I've ordered over the phone, after picking up the food and getting home, I checked the bill and the charges did not tally. There seemed to be some phantom additional charges which just didn't add up. Since this happened twice...I've decided not to go back.
Exactly what we wanted. If you are looking for tasty, authentic Indian food with the BEST naan anywhere, go to Tandoor. We just went there for the first time last night, purely based on reviews from CitySearch and friends. It was everything we were looking for--(we had actually gone to Namaste, which is right by our house, looked at the menu, saw nothing that we liked, and drove to Bloomington just for this place!) The food was delish, and the ambience was awesome. Lots of couples on dates. Friendly service.
Hot hot hot right from a tandoor, informal service, my kids love it!!!. My family visited this places several times for a lunch buffet. To be honest, I'm not big on Indian food. But growing up in Uzbekistan, a lovely country in Central Asia, I realize the difference between food baked in a tandoor or some other way. I don't know whether many people know that a tandoor is an ethnic oven, which used not only in India. It's probably more used in Uzbekistan than in India. Our favorites are naan, chicken tandoori and goat. Just wait when it's coming right from the tandoor rather the one that's been sitting in a casserole. Even just 15-20 minutes make a huge difference. The service is very informal, that we like, prices are reasonable. I don't know yet any other place in Twin Cities that has a tandoor. So we'll come again when our stomachs are feeling like "a tandoor is calling".
Won't be back to eat at Randoor.
A local Minneapolis business associate told me that Tandoor is a good Indian restaurant. It has a high CitySearch 4.5 rating. That rating is undeserved in my opinion.
While not the worst of the worst, it leaves a lot to be desired. I travel a lot and eat at many restaurants all over the country. Indian food is one of my favorites.
Food - Vindaloo Lamb was mostly aloo (potatoes). Kulfi was mostly condensed milk, not much pistachios and almonds. Naan was quite undercooked. Even the papadam was burnt and it took a long time to get it served. Mango lassi was colorful but not very mango.
Service - poor and slow. Once I ordered, the waiter never stopped by to ask if I want another Lassi (I did). It took at least five minutes to get more green mint chutney for the papadum. And it was not so crowded to warrant the slow service.
Summary: I won't be back to Tandoor in Bloomington, MN ever again.
Poor Customer Service - Rude Behavior by owner.
I have been waiting to write this review for quite sometime and today is the day. Tandoor Indian restaurant in Bloomington (Minneapolis) is OK as far as food is concerned but their customer service is horrible. We were a group of 5 who entered the place at 9:45 P.M. The timings outside said the restaurant was open upto 10:30. So we walked in without hesitation. The manager immediately on seeing us, in a rude manner said that we had to order quickly and they cannot take orders after 10 PM. He said the kitchen closed at 10. Fine...That may be their policy but there is a nicer and polite way to say things to customers !!! We walked out and went to Don Pablos where they greeted us with a smile !!!
This was not the first time that I faced this. On 2 previous occassions, I was told the same in a rude fashion when we walked in for a lunch buffet. The owner said we had to take all we wanted because he was going to take out the food as it was 2:15 PM.
So this place is good if you want to eat some decent Indian food in Bloomington/Edina/Richfield area but do not expect courteous service one bit. Hope the management reads all these reviews and corrects themselves.
very bad service and rude behaviour fro the Restaurant in charge. very bad service and rude behaviour fro the Restaurant in charge...He mentioned that we need to mention the count of additional spoons and plates that i need during my order to go....I doono if i need to specific about all these things during my order...morepver he will show a face as if he is paying for taking food from there
