Edina mall packed with high-end boutiques and an array of eateries..
In Short
This refined two-story mall, located just south of Southdale, is laid out along a tiled, greenery-filled central corridor. Among the offerings: Gabberts' classic and contemporary furniture and Williams-Sonoma's gourmet cookware. On the clothing front, Fawbush's sells wearable-art outfits while Len Druskin and Epitome sell modern togs. Gabberts Furniture and Design Studio is an anchor, and folks can refuel at Sidney's, Big Bowl, the Good Earth and Starbucks.
face of consumerism. Don't expect much from this crammed, unspacious mall. What shops offer are over-priced for their quality. The image that the mall is trying to bring out is good, but staff are not trained enough to reflect that image. It is interesting to see the contrast of this mall selling a cup of coffee at $4, a wine glass at $25, a service of haircut at $50, a jacket at $550 vs. people living in poverty only a few miles away from it.
A Strip Mall In Armani Clothing. Based on what I've seen, I often wonder if Galleria shoppers and staff love abuse. They seem to live by the creed "T'is better to GIVE than to receive." On more visits than not, I've seen fur coats with unattainable expectations loudly and publicly lord over the retail staff regarding worthy issues like luke-warm lattes. The staff will often follow suit in its responses to "regular" folks. I suppose when you cater to those with rediculous amounts of disposable income, it's one of the necessary evils. Believe it or not, you can find a great number of Galleria's "specialty" items, ie: wicker baskets, vases, even art, at TJ Maxx and similar retailers - and it is the EXACT SAME - name brand and everything. Guess which place gets you the better value?
