Traditional dishes and all -you-can-eat salad, soup and bread sticks are the draw at this upscale-casual Italian restaurant.. In Short
Established in 1982, this chain gained a following for its laid-back atmosphere and generous portions. Patrons settle into comfortable booths and tables in dining rooms with plants, artwork and décor reminiscient of the villas in the Tuscan countryside. Starters include scampi, sausage or pepperoni pizza, and several soup choices, as well as a signature seafood dip (crab, shrimp, cheese and marinara). Entrees include classics like lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo and chicken parmigiana. There are also "Garden Fare" options, which promise 30 percent fewer calories.

Microwave Italian Food. Olive Garden offers nothing more than microwave italian food. You can go into the freezer section of any grocery store and find food equal to anything you can buy here.

I'm not impressed with this ultra corporate, one looks like another eatery. Still the staff worked hard, and did a good job. Everything was as they intended, iI just find the menu to be uninspired and unimaginitive.

Olive Garden Overrated. My visit to Olive Garden last Monday for a late lunch was very diappointing. Despite nearly a nearly empty restaurant, the service was HORRENDOUS. We had to wait to order, wait for drinks, and wait to get more salad and breadsticks. The food is fine, but not great, though the salad really is quite good. Portion size varies by item. The fettucine alfredo is decent-sized, whereas the lasagne is one small piece. The little mints at the end of the meal are a nice touch. If given a choice, I'd much rather go to Ciatti's.
