I have been to Kincaid's a number of times, both for special occasions and business meetings and have never been disappointed. My out of town customers who have been there with me look forward to having lunch or dinner there when they are in town.
Terrible Service, ok food.
Saturday evening we went to Kincaid's Bloomington. While the steak and lamb shops were fantastic the sides (mashed potatoes and asparagus) and soups were cold.
The Service in the bar area was terrible...extremely slow and inaccurate.
Not sure if I will give it another try.
Another average restaurant.
We were guests of another couple for a b--day celebration and we hadn't been there in awhile from a previous average dinner where we chose not to go back for dinner. The bar would've been fine except for pesty waitresses while having a pre dinner drink.
At dinner the waitress we had annoyed all of us with constant interuptions pushing us for decisions like they wanted to get us out of there to fill the table. It was not that busy for a Friday and by 9:15 the place had cleared out. The food everyone ordered; scallops were rubbery with virtually no vegetables to go with it, the mahi was tasteless with overcooked vegetables that weren't eaten, the pork loin combo ended up being 1small item. Also needed to ask for more water often with the older and not very friendly waitress. Will probably stay away for quite awhile after that experience, so so food, high priced and small drinks-I'm sure the wine was less than 4 oz..
Kincaid's - GREAT FOOD, but the worst service...EVER.
I absolutely have been a devout fan of this places since I moved to the Twin Cities in the mid 90s. My boss and even my CEO recommended it originally as their "favorite restaurant." I have dined there regularly countless times, and despite my absolute adoration of their food (Copper Creek salmon to die for), their service can be deplorable. We had a server last time, I would assume is new since we saw her training recently on another ocassion we dined. She was rude bordering on offensive, and snide. Her general lack of knowledge on the menu and obvious lack of people skills was abhorrent. That skinny little blonde thing with a bad attitude has no business working with people as it was obvious from the moment we sat down we were inconvienencing her. If you want our business back, you may want to find a way to replace
Shannon. We won't be back until we know she has left your employement.
Perfect Place for a Special Night Out. We recently celebrated my birthday at Kincaids and it was truly one of the most memorable meals I've ever had. The restaraunt is a bit difficult to find - it's on the main floor of an office building, but it's beautiful. Wide open and airy, most tables have great views of the beautiful landscaping outside. There is also a lovely patio with outdoor seating available. The service was exceptional. The manager suprised me within a few minutes of our arrival with my favorite martini compliments of the restaurant. He'd received a "hint" from my husband while making our reservations on opentable. Our server was also given the "heads up" about our special evening and prepared a wonderful dessert for us that wasn't even on the menu. The food was fantastic. My husband had the New York Strip which was perfection. A generous cut and perfectly prepared. If you're a seafood lover - welcome to heaven. Order the salmon and forget-about-it. It's the best around - their signature dish. We also tried one of the specials that night: banana shrimp stuffed with crab in a macademia nut crust with a buttery sauce - WOW. Hungry yet? This place is a no-brainer for any special event - but do make a reservation. It's a hot spot for wine-ing and dining clients so getting a good table might be a challenge even on a week night. Dress up and make a night of it!
Straightforward American food at one of suburbia's prime special-occasion spots..
In Short
Located on the main floor of an office building, the space has a hotel-like atmosphere, but twinkling white lights, greenery and bubbling built-in stream create a romantic atmosphere at night. Expect a dressed-up crowd (suits and jewels) punctuated by the occasional jeans-clad football fan. A traditional menu blends with imaginatively prepared nightly specials, such as vermouth-glazed salmon. The rock salt-roasted prime rib is famous, but steaks will do if the restaurant runs out.
outstanding. My wife and I love seafood, and we've dined at fine restaurants in this country and others. Our recent visit here was world-class. A scallop preparation and the crab-stuffed sea bass couldn't have been better. The smoked mushroom salad special for the night was excellent. There were six of us, and everyone's selections (we traded about) were wonderfully prepared. Our waiter was also very friendly and efficient. I don't know about the beef and pork here, but the seafood was memorable. Nice ambience, too. (I refer to the Bloomington site.)
not worth it.... I was not impressed when we went to Kincaid's for dinner. The entrees were mediocre, the waitress omitted items that we ordered, and the seating arrangements made it difficult to hold an intimate conversation. Dessert was amazing, though.
Kincaid's. The creator of this list has either never been to Minneapolis or is used to the food at McDonalds. Kincaids is an exceptional seafood restarunt and should be ranked the number two seafood restaruant just behind Oceanaire.
Lunch review only.
Kincaids makes fantastic food. You get what you pay for though as well. The restaurant itself is in the ground floor of an office building. It has nicely maintained gardening around the dining area to separate it from the building entry. Still, you can get the feeling you are in a big food court.
Menu choices are varied and they have many temporary or seasonal items so you can always find something new.
The bar is rather drab and smells of smoke. They could use better air scrubbers. The bar usually has an array of saloon specialties that are available almost immediately. So if you are rushed, you have multiple choices.
Overall, it is good, but can become expensive to eat there regularly.
