Akita Sushi
Akita: Mediocre.
I used to live very near to akita and would visit often. The Sushi here is slightly above average quality and priced okay. Bar staff and servers are usually pretty good but I've had a few instances where I've asked for my check and it's taken far to long get it.
On one occasion I was rudely denied entry by the front staff because they were 30 minutes away from closing. When I say rudely, I really do mean they were not nice about it. As if I was insulting them for thinking I could spend money there near closing time. I wonder if they're aware that Sushi Tango is just down the street...
The a la carte or "all you can eat" thing is weird too.
Good deal.
I have been there a couple of times. The food was always good, but the service was always a draw --depending on who your server was. The host and manager were rude and need to pick up some pointers from a few of the servers.
The only other thing is, everyone in your party had to do the a la carte or all you can eat. Can't mix. I can understand why they have that rule, but it's very inconvenient.
good sushi!. The all you can eat sushi was great vargain! i been to numerous suchi bars and they can be way more expensive than this! would recommend to someone that likes a variety of sushi!
Horrible Service. I went to Akita this weekend for lunch expecting amazing food a service, instead I was very disappointed. My fiancée and I were given 3 menus in which to choose are lunch. I wanted a meal off one of the menus and he wanted the all you can eat menu, both entrees cost about $30 each. As we ordered we were told that we had to eat the same exact meal or we couldn’t order. It was totally ridiculous so we paid for our drinks a left, they willing let a $60+ customer walk out the door without so much as an apology. I don’t recommend this restaurant unless you want to eat the exact same meal as your date.
Bad Food, Rude Staff.
Sushi is ok (mostly rice) and overpriced. Bartender is unexperienced and sarcastic. Manager was condescending after no one told us it was ONLY all you can eat. Apparently the hostess is supposed tell everyone. Dumb, why not the waitress & put sign on each table? They seemed very upset that they got in trouble for not doing so. I went back the next day to retrieve sunglasses and as I walked out the door the hostess sarcastically said to me "Did you find another mistake"? I will never go back!
Go to Sakura, or Giapponese
YUMMY!!!!. I have never had sushi. Akita was the first place I tried it. It was SO good, and the textures were perfect!!! Bar service wasnt the best, but food service was GREAT!! Good for first timers!!!
Great food, decent service. We've been here a few times now, and the sushi is very good. Lots of choices, most of which are excellent. We had a couple different servers, and that would be our only complaint. One of our servers, Ming, was friendly and prompt. The others seemed bothered by us.
worth your money during lunch hour but service too bad. i've been to this place several times and i would say it's worth what you pay during lunch hour $14.99. the dinner price $25.99 is way too much, and it serves the same as lunch too. the sushi rolls are small so have to order several of same kind. and the wait for the sushi is kind of slow, because people order way too much??? the servers are really rude and impolite. i know it says on the menu you cannot waste food, and if you do, you will be charged. well, i like to order the vegetable tempura but without the potatoes -because they give so much potatoes and i am not a fan of potatoes. i asked the server for the vegetable tempura, but minus the potatoes. she said they were too busy and if i don't eat it, it's ok. well, i was about to be done with my visit there, so started to stack up the dish on my table for the server and put the plate with the potatoes on top, there were about 4 pieces left. the server did not take that plate and took all the plates underneath that one! so, i was like "what??" next time she comes back, i told her we were done and wanted our check. she told us that we were wasting food and she's going to have to charge us money if we do not finish the food! never have i been told to finish my food since i was a kid! and i even asked her i didn't want the potatoes to begin with! i was furious and took like 2 bites out the food. she came back with our check, and never came back to check up on us, it was like 15 min after. so, we went to the cash register and she comes up. we paid with our visa, and didn't leave any tip. she told us that tip was not included. well, duh! we know that! we told her we left some on the table. i was mad, because we really did leave the tip (cash) on the table, and had we known this woman was going to beg for her tip, we would've given her none! she provided really bad service and since then, i haven't visited that place. i don't know if i'm going to go back there again, because the service is too bad. it isn't worth my visit and their food.
Not-So-Fresh Sushi with bad service. Akita Sushi serves nothing different from your local groceries Sushi Take-out boxes. Also service was terrible. The servers do not know whats on the menu and also they were extremely rude. The servers were poorly trained in customer service and the menu itself. They take 12% of the check for gratuity and insist on "keeping the change." The quality of food was not worth the trip to woodbury and the money.
