I'm hooked. My boyfriend introduced me to this place last summer, and I love it. I come here at least twice a month! I'm partial to open-kitchen, "down home" restaurants. The cost is reasonable and the atmosphere great. If you have to wait (which you will if you go on a weekend; this place is usually packed - a testament to its awesomeness) there's a nice little coffee shop next door. Everyone at the Anchor is super friendly; the service is always excellent.

However, even if the service was crap and the food was served on paper plates, I would still come here because IT'S JUST THAT GOOD. The fish has a cripsy, tasty crust and the chips are flavored with sea salt (though I prefer their homemade tartar sauce.) Their burgers are made with grass-fed beef, and they're so good I would gladly trade my left had for one. I believe their burgers just won an award from CityPages, too.

Super tasty food, super friendly people, super price, super all around.

Good food good price. We've been here twice and love it! The food is great. You get a huge basket of fish and chips for $8.95. That is a really good deal. It is small and can get really busy so be prepared to wait. Also, it is cool inside so bring a sweater!

Love every time and I like to try everything. Before giving a five star review, The Vibe is NE urban pizzazz. Visually warm and the Smells are comforting. Having a Guinness or a Harp while you wait for seating is recommended. This is my new chipper and think alot of others will agree...

Went there on St. Patty's Day. Great service, great atmosphere, and good food. How often do you get to watch the chef/cook hand dip your fish and drop it into the fryer? Yes the fries were a bit greesy, but overall we had good food and a good time at the Anchor!

Fish was overcooked and blah blah bland. The decor was nice urban, modern. But they seated us right by the door and front window and normally that isn't bad if there is some kind of barrier between the front door and you, but none was to be had at the Anchor even in winter.

I ordered fish and chips. For a fish and chip restaurant, they should at least have good fish. The fish was overcooked, bland, and tough. Ever had tough fish? It's not pretty.

My husband had the Shepherds Pie and was again bland, nothing special.

We also had a side of mushy peas. Again, fairly standard, nothing special.

We are always looking for good restaurant experiences. That element of decor or flavor that distinguishs the dining experience from just another Saturday night at home, and the Anchor was just nothing-special-Saturday-night-might-as-well-be-at-home. Though it was fairly cheap it was just bland, blah, and nothing special.
