So here is the deal. I have read all
of the comments about Mort's Deli and I have to tell you, I love the food. The Pastrami is melts like butter. Words truley give there food no justice, the portions were great, the food is great and so is the service. So this leaves me with the comments that were left on this site, and my opinion is check it out for yourself.
Warning it is not a New York nor a Chicago Deli it is a Minnesota Deli.
I've been there three times and so far I have stuck to corned beef or pastrami. Somebody complained about the prices. Considering that I've gotten two meals out of each sandwich, I'd say it's a bargain. I thought the waitress made a mistake and brought be a bowl of soup instead of a cup. That's how big the portions are. In the to-go area, they have some candies that were popular in the 60's and hard to find now. Service had been spotty, but our last waitress did a fine job. I'll be going back soon to try the home-style turkey dinner. We saw someone else enjoying it and it looked great.
This is my new favorite restaurant in Minneapolis. Great family place, fabulous food, excellent service, what more could you want! fdefinitely a restaurant that you dont want to miss!
I have been to Morts 2 different times for lunch. Both times the service and food were excellent. The pastrami and corned beef are the best I have had since moving to Minnesota. This is how a real deli should be. I have never hard an issue with service or the knowlege of the servers. Everyone at my table had been to New York and agreed this is the closest thing to a real deli in Minnesota.
From the minute I walked in, I felt immediately welcomed. Our host sat us down at a table that was very clean. Almost every table around us was full, but even so our waitress came right away and got drink orders. When we ordered our food, she gave us some great suggestions as to what to get and what not to get. My sandwich was great, and so were the fries that I ordered on the side. All in all, I thought everything was very good. I will definitely go there again.
Great place! Absolutely love it. HUGE portions and do NOT miss the cheesecake...I loved it so much it was my wedding cake!
Now that's a tasty burger. I've been here twice now- cute place, great staff, unbelievable burgers and excellent fresh made potato chips. There is a dining room as well as a pick-up deli counter. We've also stopped in a couple of times to buy ready-to-purchase bags of their amazing potato chips for parties. Generous portions on everything, they have tv's to occupy you during your wait for the food, they bring you pickles to eat, they have these huge delicious looking cakes in their display cases, and this place is just all around great.
Morts is the best deli I have eaten at in the Twin Cities. Not cheap but very much worth the price. Corned beef, pastrami, and cheesecake. brought in fresh from New York City. The best matzo ball soup. I could go on and on!! All I can say is TRY IT, YOU'LL LOVE IT!!
Seriously does not get any better than this. We were stuffed full and had leftovers for the next day. Highly recommend the soups. The service and the food were amazing. We love Mort's!
My humble opinion best Jewish deli in Minnesota. Yes, there is always something that we as amateur deli experts would change BUT over all they got it right - especially the corned beef on marble rye.
