I just love this place b/c I like saying I went to the Jalsa. Really unique approach to Indian food. I only came here because of the name...love it..... I had Chicken Tiika Masalla with Naan and love it. Their naan is weirdly awesome. Totally agree with the other review that says it is pillowy!!??!! It was good, but the fact that there were several Indian people eating here is a sure sign of a great Indian place plus it was packed. My only issue is can an Indian restaurant burn good smelling incense, because you always leave smelling like curry even if it's just for dessert.

OMG AWESOME CHAT/PLATTERS/INDO-CHINESE. LOVED IT. just went here for first time with my boyfriend tonight. we loved it. the vegetable platter appetizer was a great variety. the tea (chai latte) was amazing. yum. I always wanted a chat, I never thought in my dreams that I would be able to get chat in America but my wish came true, awesome taste. they are open to making substitutions and the service was great. some of the tables that came in after us had to wait a while to be seated but it was a very busy saturday evening so that is not surprising for such a popular (great atmosphere with nice decorating). recommend the chana masala. we had two entrees, two naans, an appetizer and plus extra rice and papadum. there are a couple of nay sayer comments below... im not sure if they went on a bad day or something but i did not find the food to be bland at all. They have option if you like mild, spicy or medium. Absulutely going there again, doubtless. 100% recommended. they have excellent chutneys, (one coriander and one tamarind)

A+ Food, B+ Atmosphere. Let me start by saying only indian food I was exposed before going to Jalsa was Chicken Tikka Masala. Lady at the counter recommended me to get Samosa Chaet. I asked for mild but it was still little spicy for my buds. However, it was probably one of the most flavor full dish I have tried. It had all kinds of kick to it. I was surprised that I never saw that dish in any other Indian restaurants I have been. My wife ordered Chicken Kati Wrap, which was delicious. I like how they used grilled chicken for their wraps. However, I recommend them to up their atmosphere. It was bit noisy.

unimpressed. I ordered the Chicken Hakka Noodles, which had absolutely no chicken meat. There were several slabs of fried chicken skin in the dish. Service was mediocre at best. I had put in an order via internet before arriving and had received a confirmation email, but when I got there I was told it hadn't gone through. No other explanation or apology, just a "what do you want."

Poor service and low quality food. When Jalsa opened a while back, I thought it was fantastic to have a joint that served Indian snacks/chaat in Minneapolis. However, I have to say the mild success enjoyed by Jalsa has gone straight to management’s head. The quality of their food and service is pathetic and worsening.

My wife and I were in the restaurant this morning and tried to get a few snacks. A woman (likely the owner?) was there to take our order and busy talking on the phone while I stood at the counter for 2-3 minutes. Once I placed my order, it was prepared rather quickly. However, upon picking up my order, I asked for extra condiments (chutney) and was met with "a roll of the eyes" as if I was burdening her by giving them my business. Finally, when my wife and I sat down to eat the food, we realized the food, though it appeared cooked from the outside, was only half cooked from the inside. The potatoes inside the samosa were cold and the shell of the samosa was over 40-50% raw. My wife and I were already disappointed and decided we had had enough and were going to leave. But before we left, we decided to show the lady at the counter the samosa and stated to her that we did not want our money back or another samosa. She nodded her head and went in to the kitchen dismissing us altogether.

I work for a company where customer service is everything. So a few words of advice for Jalsa's management team:

- Drop the attitude and learn how to provide good customer service.

- Improve the quality of your food.

- Recognize when you've under delivered and try to rectify rather than

make the situation worse or else you'll get reviews such as these,

which will jeopardize the growth of your business.

To all those considering going to Jalsa, I suggest skipping this place as you'll be met with disappointing customer service and below average quality food.
