Citysearch Editorial Review. Forget Barbie and SpongeBob. This small, but expertly organized and eco-conscious (and kid-conscious, too!), St. Paul shop doesn’t carry products with cartoon characters. And it doesn’t carry anything with plastic, batteries or petroleum byproducts, either. And true to its playful and cute name, there are loads of fun, Disney-free alternatives at Peapods. Stylish toy cars made from Asian bamboo, natural beeswax crayons by Stockmar and fair-trade knit hacky sacks from Guatemala are just a few of the eco-conscious playthings you’ll find. For aspiring sculptors aged 3 and up, there’s Mary’s Softdough, an all-natural, Oregon-made alternative to Play-Doh.
Best Selection of Montessori, Organic, Waldorf and Consious parenting items!.
Possibly THE BEST selection of baby and children's items in MN.
Millie, the store owner- has genuine heart in this store. She is there almost daily greeting the customers, offering suggestions and sending out newsletters and sprucing up the great website.
This is the natural parenting HAVEN. Tons of cloth diapers, (and employees that know the difference between each one.) Tons of organic items, and some pretty great kid's toys as well. I'm in the South Suburbs, (it's about a 40 minute drive for me-) but I ALWAYS go for the great selection and knowledge that the employees possess. (It shows when someone genuinely cares about their public.)
Fabulous selection of Waldorf toys, and montessori items. If your little one is imaginative, this store is a MUST. The prices are FABULOUS. (In the summer the store holds a yearly 'sidewalk sale-' you can't miss it!)
Its always a welcome break from the other children's stores in the area. The staff is knowledgeable and always asks how my little one is doing. I would take this store over ANY OTHER baby store- hands down.
-You have GOT to check it out.
(And when you're done? Run a couple doors down and have one of the BEST burgers at the St. Clair Broiler.) It's a perfect Saturday Afternoon.
