Fast and friendly

by mcfoodie12 at Citysearch

I'm lucky to have Maverick's in my neighborhood. The brisket sandwiches are tender and juicy. Fries and shakes are also good. It's a popular lunch spot and the line moves along quickly. The owners, brothers Brett and Bart, are very nice and I'm glad to see they're succeeding.

  • Pros: Great lunch spot
  • Cons: Limited weekend hours

Excellent Sandwiches and service

by santonissen at Citysearch

I went to Mavericks with my husband for lunch on Saturday. We were welcomed with a warm and friendly greeting. We decided to each try a different sandwich and share. Our service was quick and we received out roast beef and brisket sandwiches along with an order of fries and onion rings. We loaded up with their tasty condiments including horseradish, horseradish sauce, tangy BBQ sauce and Dijon horseradish sauce and headed over to enjoy our sandwiches. They were super!!!!! Satisfying and tastier than any fast food. We will definitely be adding this to our regular stops.

  • Pros: Tasty fresh food... fast service
  • Cons: n/a

Best Beef

by heavylover at Citysearch

Wow! That was the best roast beef sandwich I have had in a long time. So tender, I almost didn't have to bite into it. Had a beef brisket sandwich too. It was great. Not too much to stuff me, that's why I got 2 sandwiches. I also got 1 sandwich to go after I was done with the first 2. That was my first time, and I plan to go back often. I went on a Monday at about 11am. There were only 3 people in the place eating, but about 6 more came and went with stuff to go. The people going to the Subway next door don't know what they're missing. Easy parking too. They have their own posted parking spaces. See you next week. I'll try the pulled pork and something else too.

  • Pros: parking, food quality, condiment bar
  • Cons: none

When you need it now but still want it good, this "better fast food" joint satisfies.

In Short
What Maverick's lacks in its characterless decor, it makes up for in its uncharacteristically good fast food. The place seats 70 at large tables, making it popular with the group lunch crowd. Although the noon hour is a busy one, you still won't have to wait long. Started with the goal to make better fast food, the menu features slow-cooked roast beef sandwichs on a Kaiser rolls, beef brisket on pumpernickel.

Best Sandwich Around

by smschmit at Citysearch

Everyone mentions the roast beef and brisket sanwiches, but there is so much more. Pulled pork sandwich, ham sandwich, fish sandwich, BBQ sandwich, open face beef or brisket with gravey & mashed potatoes. The french fries are the best anywhere. The selection of shakes is unbelievable. The staff and owner remember you when you come back. The other reviews have mentioned lack of decor. Maverick recently remodeled with faux paint, framed art from classic westerns and updated light fixtures.

  • Pros: Friendly Staff, Good value

Glad I ran across it!

I'm embarassed to say this, but I was actually headed to the Subway next door when I discovered this place. Lucky for me, I made the right choice.

The roast beef is cut paper thin and freshly prepared right in front of you. The fries are fresh and crispy. Other sandwiches, such as ham and chicken are available, but for my money, I'll stick to the roast beef and brisket. Overall, a good experience and value, although the value meal is actually priced .02 cents higher than if you buy the items seperately. Found that odd.

  • Pros: high quality food, good service, appreciative owner
  • Cons: styrofoam cups, value meal overpriced

Wild About Maverick's

by Proofwell at Citysearch

This is one of those great "hole in the wall" restaurants that everyone knows but doesn't want to share. Lean, rare roast beef on fresh rolls, savory barbecued beef, tender pulled pork ... mmm. This is what Arby's would be if it were on steroids. Add to that a selection of ten flavors of shakes, including key lime and raspberry kiwi, and you've got a unique winning combination that keeps regulars coming back. The counter help is friendly and efficient. I only wish Maverick's were open longer on weekends!

  • Pros: Quick service, Fresh meats, Friendly servers
  • Cons: Lack of decor

Great Lunch Option

by soapdish at Citysearch

I eat there about once every two weeks at lunch. Service is fast, friendly and the owner always thanks us for coming. The menu has expanded from when they started, now w/soups and a few other choices. Some of the best French fries in town, especially cuz they often bring them to you steaming hot!! It's nice to support a home town business, as opposed to a chain.
