Dont dine at the bar at the Airport

by amaelie

Bartenders are brusque and unfriendly. The service we received was very slow and impersonal even though the bar was not busy. We never received the food we ordered and had to leave to catch our flight after half an hour of waiting. They forgot to put our order in and we never got refills on our beverages or asked for a second drink.

  • Pros: Nice atmosphere
  • Cons: rude staff and poor level of service

I love it here

by hage0269

The ambience is cool but the food is delicious. I really like the burger/fries, the beef sandwich, the guacamole, the breakfast with the bloody mary and huge pastry. What else? My review isn't very excited but this place rules!

SUB PAR, in every way.

by wannawritecomment

I went to Ike's for dinner before attending a show at Orchestra Hall. I was please with the ambiance of the bar, but everything else was sub- par. The menu was over priced, so my group of four decided to share some appetizers. The lobster corn dogs were not edible. The potstickers were alright, and the ribs were delicious but the portion was unbelievably unjustified for the price of the plate. The bloody MAry was pretty good and I enjoyed having the homeade cookies at the end of the meal. Overall, the place was disappointing. The food was sub par and the service wasn't any better.

Gone downhill FAST Horrible service, mediocre food.

by sweeterx23

6 months ago, I was an Ike's fan. I've been there 20 - 30 times over the past 5 years -- yet, the last two times have been horrible. In sum, the biggest challenge is inept service that has an entitled air -- one that suggest that YOU are lucky to eat there. We sat at the bar this last time and our bartender had to be flagged down for a first drink as he was too busy flirting with single women, flagged down later (after 10 minutes of effort) for new drinks, catsup for burgers, etc.

Our entire meal was messed up with our appetizer coming with our entrees (how long DOES guacamole take anyway?); our burger did not come as ordered; the bloody mary tasted like tomato juice without any zest or excitement; and when we asked for sauce the waiter was aggressive and confrontational. I'm not sure what Ike's is thinking, but, a waiter feeling like they can point at there name tag and correct a patron on how to address them, is NOT acceptable.

Our night ruined, we discussed the horrible experience with the hostess. "Oh (shoulder shrug), sorry," was the mature response of management. Kudos to Ike's on loosing a fan and having ruined our celebration that night.

Do NOT go here -- you WILL be disappointed.

  • Pros: good fries, nice location
  • Cons: service, price, mediocre food

Sharky is the manager you need to have at all this towns eateries!

by Ranxerox

Went in after a show at Orchestra Hall, ordered a bottle of wine but we weren't told by the waiter that they close at 10:00. While drinking said wine, we were told to drink up as they were closed and wanted to leave; chugging the wine, we left along with several other patrons. Called the next day, asked for manager, was asked for my contact information as manager was out tending to some financial matter.

Sharky, the manager, called back quickly. Listened politely as I explained that when we asked for a bottle, we should have been informed that the place had closed, or was going to close very soon; he agreed, apologized and then asked for information about waiter, said he would talk to the guy. Offered to send me a gift certificate as a way of making up for it. All very polite and understanding...THAT is good customer service.

Avoid Sitting at the Bar

by GayDane

One bartender there is very rude. We had to flag him down everytime we wanted another round of drinks. He needs to get into a different career because he has no clue and has an attitude.

Good food Nice Environment

by dbep99

We enjoyed ourselves very much, the food seemed quite nice for the price. Not a huge menu but plenty for casual dining. Space was a little tight, seems similar to Harry's Food on Washington Ave but they have much more space(big booths).

  • Pros: Nice simple menu
  • Cons: Very Tight seating

Not so Irish

by rauzer

The place is decent enough, but not fantastic. We stopped in for a couple of Irish coffees and some appetizers. The appetizers were so-so (fish tocos were good, but ribs were recycled), but the Irish coffees were the worst. It seemed a bit strange that the bartender had to "disappear" to make them - usually they build a drink in front of you so you can see what's what. Not this time. He takes off to some cubby hole away from the bar and then returns: "Ta dah" - here they are: luke warm and - I swear - no whiskey. So we asked him about it in a nice way and in a nice way he gets us two more on the house. A nice gesture, but two times bad is not good, it's just double bad. At first we thought maybe their mistaken opinion of Irish coffee might be using Baleys instead of Irish whiskey, but the drinks were too weak even for that. Who knows what they're doing there, but I suggest you stick to the beers and the tacos. One nice thing is that during happy hour the appetizers are two for one, which is good because I would have been extra angy if I really had to pay $12.00 for that dried out mini slab of leather that they called ribs. With so many nice places around, I would choose another place to really eat and drink, but this is okay for a quick one.

  • Pros: It's a handy place for some quick bar food
  • Cons: The food and drinks quality isn't that great

Good brunch, terrible service

by lisa1422

Gone to Ike's a few times and the experience is usually the same with one or two exceptions. The atmosphere is great and the food is good with the brunch being the highlight, but the service is often spotty to awful to downright rude.

The last visit was for brunch and we had reservations. The hostess was completely clueless and did not seat us until 15minutes after arrival even thought the table was available just not bussed. The server did come by, nor did anyone come by for 20 minutes until we finally flagged someone down. The waitress was actually quite nice, but the waitress for the group next to us was very rude to the table. We both were celebrating birthdays.

I love the weekender Bloody Mary, but I will find other options on a Sunday especially for a group. The food is good, but not outstanding and not enough to sustain another try. Such a disapointment considering Mpls ever changing food scene as of late. I know it's a chain of sorts but I expected better.

  • Pros: Atmosphere, Brunch
  • Cons: Service is awful.

Great late nite eats.

by eeghc8

Wandered around and stumbled upon Ike's late at nite. The hostess was friendly and helpful when we asked to see a menu, she gave a great suggestion for desert. The rediculous chocolate cake was rediculously good and so was the quesadila. Nice place!

  • Pros: Great cake!
  • Cons: Small
