Sunday's the only day!

Get to this place lickity split. If you're up and about on Sunday, they have 1/2 price bottles of wine - on a pretty decent wine list, if you can believe that! Some particularly nice pinots, i remember. And the calamari is a must.
Great food - great service

We happened upon this place by accident - had heard of it but weren't planning to go - on an off night (Wednesday). First and foremost, the service was great. Not snobbish while not fake as happens all too often. I always feel uncomfortable when the wait staff kisses up. Our waiter was very down-to-earth and knowledgeable. The wine list appeared to have a number of reasonably-priced wines - we found something very nice without having to splurge. Our salad and entrees were wonderful - great attention to detail and all flavors worked remarkably well together. For the record, we had the butter lettuce salad, roasted butternut squash agnolotti and the stuffed trout (onion, mushroom and bacon), and were treated with a free taste of the fries with paprika and aioli, which were outstanding as well. All in all, this is probably the overall best restaurant experince we've had in some time, and I'm frankly surprised that I'm saying that as we've had a lot of great experiences (and some not so great!). Go here. Eat well. Be happy.
- Pros: Great service, fantastic food
- Cons: None
Finally a restaurant that lives up to the hype!

I've been meaning to try JP's for quite sometime now after reading and hearing so many great things about the place. Working in fine dining myself, I am a bit of a critic and not easily impressed. I have to say that it was a truly great dining experience and everything that came out of the kitchen was a masterpiece. The attention to detail and pairing of the ingredients were obviously the work of a very talented chef. In addition, the service was friendly, knowledgeable and actually matched the quality of the food- which in itself seems to be an impressive feat for most high end restaurants. Great experience and a place that I will definitely visit again!
- Pros: Convenient Parking, Incredible food and Great service
- Cons: Nothing
Great Food and even Better Service!
by smuellson at Citysearch
I dined at jP's this past weekend with a group of girlfriends, we chose the bar area, it's great people watching on Lyndale! We were greeted with a friendly and outgoing server who walked us thru the specials and made reccomendations for wine and cocktails. Two words: "Bone Crusher". That made my night. We ordered a spread of appetizers and everything was fantastic! The calamari, very lightly breaded was to die for. We had the pizza of the evening and jp's rustic pizza and wow... ten inches of heaven on a plate! I would highly recommend jP's for any occasion. I will be back many times.
- Pros: Great food, great service, ample parking great servers and bartenders
- Cons: none.
Best Bistro in Minneapolis
by superminpin11 at Citysearch
This place was wonderful. The scallops were tender and flavorful, the duck was simply the best, not gamey or greasy as we have had in the past at other places claiming to specialize in wild game! The wine list is impressive and we enjoyed ourselves so much we had to pass on dessert in order to make our show...the waiter was aware of our show time and graciously sent us off with truffles to go... absolutely the best birthday present I could have asked for that evening....the service, the food, the atmosphere was and is a great place for a romantic evening. IMHO, enjoy yourself and your time at JP's.
- Pros: Service, Food, Wine, Ambience
- Cons: none

Great bartenders make some strong and tastey drinks. I always feel comfortable here if I'm wearing jeans or all dressed up to go to a show next door at the Jungle.
- Pros: good service
- Cons: ? parking?
BEST FOOD AND SERVICE IN MINNEAPOLIS!
by sadiesdog2 at Citysearch
I ate here with a group of friends last night and had the best experience. The service was great - the staff was friendly, efficient and professional. The food was amazing! We started with the fried italian flatbread with honey and blue cheese, the calamari, and jp's rustic pizza. Our entrees included the rib-eye, the pork chop, the trout, the gnocchi and diver scallops. We shared everything and enjoyed every bite. Our waiter walked us through the wine list and made some great recommendations (and pointed out the great wine deals on the list). Dessert was also a highlight - the mole cake was our favorite. I highly recommend jp's - a definite find!
- Pros: great food and service, warm and inviting atmosphere
- Cons: ?????
Excellent food, not so great service
by lejess at Citysearch
I dined here on a Thursday evening. It wasnt very busy, our server, while very nice was preoccupied with other tables. We waited for nearly 25 minutes between ordering our bottle of wine and actually taking our food order. The food was phenomenal though! My date and I had the chicken and the trout, both excellent. If you are looking for a leisurely meal, since the service is so slow, its a great place to go.
- Pros: Excellent food, wine list
- Cons: Slow service
Chef J.P. Samuelson's casual, chic restaurant raises Lyn-Lake's profile as a dining destination.

In Short
Golden walls and plum-painted pillars warm up this former tire shop, while an open kitchen at one end provides a distant bustle. Professional service, artsy menus and glass-block wall inserts give this place an aura of expensive class, but the spirit is simply cozy cafe. The New American menu features innovative seasonal cuisine with a distinct Asian influence. Among entrees, there's buttery tuna spiked with wasabi, gnocchi soaking in mushroom broth or flavorful short ribs.
Impressive!!

Went for an early dinner just recently to jP American Bistro and was impressed with pretty much everything. Atmosphere was upscale yet comfortable. Service was very attentive and personable. The food was wonderful!! Our table had calamari, a pizza, a house salad, hangar steak, ahi tuna, and a wonderful dessert. The bread was wonderful also!! In all, I don't really have a bad thing to write about this place. I don't like the white marble in the bar.
- Pros: Food, Service
- Cons: Parking, Marble in bar, restrooms downstairs
JP's has the best food in the Twin Cities
by bve43 at Citysearch
Went on a Saturday night and my reservations were messed up (my fault) but they were very gracious about it. The food was the best I've had in the Twin Cities. I had the Hangar Steak and my date had the Veal Chop. Perfectly cooked and the service was outstanding. A definite new favorite for me.
- Pros: Excellent service, Great Food
- Cons: Street parking, or pay lot
