Amazing!
by Molly2009
Our experience at Cave Vin was amazing! We were greeted by a very friendly host who offered us each a glass of wine (on the house) while we waited for our table. The food was great! Would highly recommend!
- Pros: Great service
- Cons: limited number of tables
Great service, great food
by foodeater2
If you go, ask to be seated in Elizabeth's section. She is top-notch, attentive, timely, courteous and knowlegeable. She is occasionally the hostess, but often the serves.
The salad is a bit over-priced but good. Entrees never fail to impress. The seafood is reliably wonderful, and the pork and steak options have never disappointed. We love the revolving menu with the staples, and the evening specials.
Desserts are incredible. If you LOVE chocolate, you must try the pots de creme.
- Pros: Great service, attention to detail, and highly knowledgeable servers and chefs.
- Cons: Can be a bit pricey.
Neighborhood French restaurant from the pair behind Pane Vino Dolce.

In Short
Warm lighting and comfy banquettes along the walls soften the sleek, minimalist decor at this roomy storefront. But hardwood floors and hard surfaces mean it's still excessively loud. The nonchalant, smartly dressed, southwest Minneapolis crowd doesn't seem to mind. Entrees range from a succulent pink steak with salty, crispy frites, to the French comfort food standard, roast chicken. Specials have featured herbed halibut with lemon-spiked wine sauce or a tangle of pasta with spring vegetables.
Ask for Jeff the waitron

Make sure Jeff is your waitron, he is super cool. Quite the dandy. He makes me happier than a schoolgirl in her new uniform. And the food is just as tasty!
- Pros: Jeff the waiter, Good soup, candle light
- Cons: kitchen a bit slow
great place

Overall one of the best restaurants in the Twin Cities, great filet, fresh fish, good wine list. Highly recommended.
Lovely night at Cave Vin
by emriebel
My husband and me visited Cave Vin on a busy Saturday night. We were greeted by a kind hostess who sat us quickly and earlier than our reservation. We were delighted by our knowledgeable and friendly waitor named Josh who recommended a fantastic wine and gave his own experienced thoughts on the menu choices. We loved our steak tartare, frog legs, duck breast, trout, and desserts! Overall, I thought the food was terrific and the service was wonderful. I would recommend this candlelit restaurant to anyone wanting a nice night out in a fancy French manner. I've been to Paris and this was just as good and priced even better than the restaurants I remember there!
- Pros: service, food, candlelit setting
Terrible!!!

My wife and I had reservations at Cafe Vin for 6:45. When we arrived, we were told the wait would be 10 minutes (even though a number of open tables remained and we had reservations.)
The host was very rude and unprofessional. In the middle of our waiting (two other couple were waiting as well) he went out for a smoke break. He returned and proceeded to seat the next couple that walked through the door. When we asked why they were given a table before us we were told they had requested a specific table. Fine, except the host had no idea who we were or if we had checked in yet. We decided to leave and which point he said he now in fact had a table for us. Sure.
For better atmoshpere, better staff, and a better experience try Pierre's Bistro on 50th and Penn.
- Pros: Nothing
- Cons: , Reservation policy, Atmosphere

Have made 3 trips so far and plan on many more. Each trip has been with guests ranging in number from 2 - 10. Each trip my guest think I am a genius finding this hidden secret. If you enjoy French food and good wine, Cave Vin is a must.
- Pros: Well trained staff, Broad entre selection, Dessert to die for
- Cons: Parking
Fantastique!
by mellringer
I was pleasantly surprised by Cave Vin. It's a small space, but that only adds to its charm. It has a very intimate setting with beautiful recessed lighting and candlelight illuminating every table. The wait staff is very attentive and personable. The owner even stopped by to say hello. It is very obvious that he takes a lot of pride in his restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious. The mussells and cheese plate that I sampled were just right, as were the sea scallops and wine. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially for those on a date looking for an intimate setting.
- Pros: ambience, parking, food
