Excellent staff, tasty food and prompt service. Special attention to detail on presentation. Same high quality everytime we visit the Metro. The wood flavoring of the steaks and chops- try them!

FireLake is not bad. Not bad at all. But that is the best that can be said. If the description doesn't convey "hotel restaurant," then let me dispel any confusion. This is a hotel restaurant. The layout is an L shape, with an extra banquet-like room for spillover. Most of the tables are arranged along the central corridor, meaning people walk past constantly. The service is serviceable, but nothing stands out. The food is very decent for a hotel restaurant, but there are 20-30 better restaurants in the Twin Cities. Unless you are staying in the Radisson, there are better places to spend your money.

My fiancee and I had just got engaged the morning prior to our lunch there. From our hostess to our server, the people treated us excellent! Our server, Tyrone, did an especially great job of making our big day that much more special. He even had a bunt cake made with "Congrats" written out in chocolate. We will definitely be back! Its important to also mention that the food was great! We both had the iron seared prawns, and they did not let us down! Further, the layered asparagus appetizer was almost enough to satisfy us!
Pros: Fast Seating, Great Service
Cons: No apparent flaws

FireLake is a great place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I take clients there all the time for meetings and they always are impressed by the great service and the amazing food. Recently, a group, with varying preferences, were there and we each found a great breakfast that suited us. From oatmeal brulee to Flat Iron Steak & eggs, there was something on the menu that satisfied each person. Both the service and the food has been very consistent every time I have been there, either alone or in a party of 40. FireLake is one of the best restaurants in the twin cities.
Pros: very consistent
Cons: sometimes it is hard to get a table without reservations

My wife and I along with another couple tried FireLake Grill House on a Friday evening. We had reservations for 7:00. We were seated in their "Private Dining Room" which is kind of a through back to the old school restaurant dinning rooms of the 60's. Usually old school is a good thing but not in this case. The room and fittings are very plain and the tables right next to each other. So much of going out is atmosphere and this place does not have it. The guys had the double pork chops, which the waiter recommended. They were OK, nothing special. Hardly deserving of a recommendation. Ladies had the Vegetable Open Ravioli and the Trout. The Open Ravioli was kind of a joke. My wife does not eat a lot but there was not enough there for even her. Very little vegetables. She said the sauce was good. The Trout was good. The entrees come with no side dishes and are not cheap. Beer was cheap. Wine average. Service was OK, but a little too casual. No way would I go back. A lot better atmosphere and food can be found elsewhere. I do not recommend the FireLake Grill
Pros: Beer Prices, Trout
Cons: Atmosphere, Food

Our first visit to Firelake was on Thanksgiving 2007. My wife, 8 year old daughter and I decided to have a non conventional Thanksgiving dinner. We are from the suburbs and we love dining downtown so we looked for a place that was serving dinner on Thanksgiving. After doing our search we came upon FireLake Grill. I've not heard of them but when we reviewed thier menu, we were already craving the meals we viewed thier on line menu. I had the Bison Ribeye which was fantastic. My wife had the vegetarian ravioli and they made a custom dinner for our 8 year old' which was thier take on Mac and Cheese. Needless to say we were all very satisfied with our meals. The dessert was fantastic, we had the Choclate tart, and the bread pudding which was excellent. Our service from the host to the waitress was great. We certainly will be back again!

Last night I had dinner at FireLake with my boyfriend. Belinda was our waitress, she was outstanding! Her choice of words was perfect, she didn't smother us. We ordered the handmade chips and dips - out of this world! The bread was fresh and warm and we ordered beer too which she did a nice presentation with. Our food was the mesquiete filet which melted in my boyfriends mouth, and i ordered the flat iron steak and prawns - SO GOOD!! The open kitchen was cool, the cooks seemed to enjoy their work and were very professional, I felt like I was watching a show. The lighting was great and the chairs were comfortable. You cant beat FireLake restaurant! GO HERE!!
Pros: knowledgeable and friendly staff
Cons: none

Last night was my first visit to firelake. I was truly impressed. Our server, Thomas, was amazing. He made us feel really welcome and kept my guests (I was having a business dinner) entertained. I ordered the prime rib, which may be the greatest cut in the twin cities -- seasoning was great, and the potatoes were delicious too. Definitely get dessert -- I had the blueberry layer cake. Their bar is well stocked and the staff knowledgeable. If you're in Minneapolis, or heck, anywhere near the twin cities, definitely check this place out. Nice atmosphere and an amazing meal.
Pros: Staff, Atmosphere, Food
Cons: Bathroom in adjacent lobby - had trouble finding it
