Had a bad experience once.

by biglou06

Had eaten there a few times with no problem. Then one night eating what I normally

order, got half way through and started to feel funny. My girl friend was experiencing the

same feeling. About an hour later it all came back up. I have wanted to go back, but

still a bit worried. Like I said, the times before were fine, just that one time.

  • Pros: fast service and cheap prices
  • Cons: crowded

Excellent, authentic Mexican food, fast service, great prices.

by trunkmonkey8

First off get the white cheese sauce cup to go with your chips - or get the Burrito Nacional to get enough cheese for dipping chips while you eat it! The food is authentic no matter what some people think (effete snobs!) and the service is fast. You'll get your food so fast your head will spin! Get the great long island drinks and your head will spin sooner. And the prices on food and drink are excellent.

I've been going to the Acapulco since it started on Coon Rapids Boulevard in an old Arby's store. Now I go to the one in Blaine (by White Castle) but they are both great. I also live very close to the Champlin El Toro and guess what? Acapulco still gets my top vote.

The food

  • Pros: Fast friendly attentive service, great food.
  • Cons: No reservations, really packed on weekends and Monday taco nights.

I love this place!

by val81049

I've been coming to Acapulco since it opened on Coon Rapids Blvd. The food is always wonderful. My favorite dish is the Yucatan Chicken along with a margarita. On Mondays' when possible, I take my spouse and children to Monday madness tacos. The tacos are only .50 cents, the Kids love'm and so does my husband especially the big 34 0z DOS XX.

  • Pros: Great Food, Good Prices, Kid Friendly
  • Cons: Always Busy, Small Waiting Area

The Best

by andreaalberg

Acapulco is the best money can buy. I have been a loyal customer of Acapulco for about 5 years now and no one can beat the value, service, and cheese sauce. The Cheese cup is a must!

Unfortunately overrated

by bigjimmy007

My wife and I have been to Acapulco a half-dozen times hoping it would be better than the last, but it unfortunately is consistently generic Mexican food. The margaritas are average at best. We are both very particular about our Mexican food and search high and low to find the best. Acapulco is much better than lousy Americanized Mexican like Chi-Chis, but lags behind other area Mexican restaurants like El Loro and La Casita.

  • Pros: Reasonable prices, Decent parking
  • Cons: , Unexceptional food, Mediocre margaritas

Best Mexican

by Big_City_Diner

I love Mexican food and Acapulco is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Twin Cities. Their Chimichanga's are to die for -- they come smothered in a white cheese sauce that is absolutely delicious. Their [free] chips are always hot and the salsa is wonderful. The wait staff is quick and the ambience in their new location is much better. They have strolling musicians on weekend evenings. Get there early though or the wait will be long. And, the best part is they are so reasonably priced.

  • Pros: Food, Good service, Inexpensive
  • Cons: Busy

The BEST Mexican!

by princess_karah

I live very near the Acapulco and count myself lucky! This place is so authentic that the waitstaff has to write your order in Spanish for the kitchen to understand. The food is amazing, and so are the prices. I love bringing friends who are fans of Mexican dishes, they are always impressed. I don't know if they still do this, but at their old location they had an authentic band strolling through the dining room on weekends and it was a lot of fun. Lunch deals are especially good and it's not very crowded then either. Definatly give this a try.
