Best Burger in Town!
by MagnetDude
I love a classic burger! I love it cooked medium rare, with a sharp cheddar. I used to live in Chicago and the best char grilled burger in the "Windy City" is The Wiener Circle. They use a cheese that is both sharp and tasty! It's no secret, It's Merkts Cheddar from Little Chute, Wisconsin. The BEST delicious spreadable cheese in the world!
I've been going to McCoy's Public house since it opened. I order the "Real McCoy" 99% of the time and in all the years I've ordered it, only 1 time it was over cooked! I have had slow service a few times. I've even had some of the burgers undercooked, and that's fine with me.
So if you want a Great burger and you love Chicago's Wiener Circle cheddar burger, then you've got to try the Merkts cheddar burger @ McCoy's Public House. If you don't like it with some red or pink, order it Mid well or well. Try the "Real McCoy" give em a chance. Comfort food done great!
- Pros: The "Real McCoy" ,Happy Hour, comfort food
Underrated Restaurant!
by mpls5431
I have dined at McCoys on several occassions and have never had a bad experience! The staff is friendly, atmosphere is fun, and meals are well-priced. Despite being crowded, I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes for a table (even on a weekend night) and parking isn't too difficult around that area given the ramps. I would highly recommend this restaurant - no one I have taken here has been unsatisfied.
- Pros: Service, Food
- Cons: none
EXTREMELY UNDER RATED RESTAURANT!!
by ericwhoeats
This is an EXTREMELY UNDER RATED RESTAURANT!!
It is a ?from scratch kitchen? and the food is cheap for the size of portions and taste. One of thee best Burgers in the Cities! They have a ton of beers on tap AND they brew their own!!!!!
The Happy Hour is KILLER with cheap 24 oz. taps, house wines and Cosomos! And the vibe is up beat yet relaxed with a modern, dark wood pub atmosphere. Just go there! (I?ll probably already be there.)
- Pros: Free parking. great neighborhood. wait for a patio table!
- Cons: sometimes busy and it should be. not too long of waits on sat night though
Best Mac & Cheese in the cities. Great Rasberry beer! Fun Atomosphere.
by alexandramary
I was very impressed with the Mac & Cheese and am not easily impressed being that I come from a culinary background. The food arrived about five minutes after I ordered it, and they were extremely busy on a Friday evening around 7pm. The Raspberry beer was also very good, something different. The service was fast if you could flag down your server, but that did prove to be a bit of an issue, possibly because they were so busy. The atmosphere is comfortable and lively. I would reccomend it as a great hang out to have a few drinks. I will definately be going back.
- Pros: Food, specialty beer, atmosphere
- Cons: too busy to get helped quickly on weekends
Great neighborhood place

Great upscale versions of your favorite comfort foods. They have a decent beer selection and a comfortable but trendy atmosphere. Try the artichoke dip, plus great deals on pizza for happy hour.
Worst dining experience ever!
by gracievan
Service was terrible--waitress was rude--did not check on us after dumping off the food--food was not good--waitress brought the wrong entree for one of us & by the time she returned to find that out, the rest of the family was done eating. We spoke to the manager who apologized but did not offer to comp the meal.
Stay away!
- Pros: none
- Cons: service
Great comfort food, and booths!
by fendel
This is a cozy place -- the booths are great for conversation. We've had excellent pizza and salads there, and the homemade "public house rolls" are total comfort food (served hot in a little cast iron pan, with honey stout butter). Lately we go for the prime rib special on Wednesday nights -- a big slab of juicy and nicely seasoned rib roast, with potato and veg. We've had issues with doneness a couple of times there (under or over), but they've always been very cheerful about taking it back and getting it right. Service has been friendly and attentive when we go. This has become our new favorite hangout.
There Are Many Better Places - and Watch Out for the 'Specials'
by lizbet
Two weeks ago an employee from our San Francisco office was in town - I work in DT Mpls and another friend works in the south metro so the 3 of us decided to meet at McCoy's. It wasn't busy when we arrived yet we had to flag down one of the many servers who were walking around chatting with each other. We then ordered 3 appetizers for the 3 of us - thinking that should be more than enough food. The appetizers are not inexpensive - but they were definately chintzy. I felt as if I shouldn't eat any just so the others would have something to eat! Service continued to be slooooooow - to non-existent.
Also avoid the beer and Bloody Mary 'special' on Sunday. The flyer on the tables state that 16 oz. taps are $2.00 all day and Bloody Mary's are $2.00 from 11 - 2. When we got our bill we were charged $8.00 for 4 drinks plus $10.00 for 4 glasses (they 'gave' us 4 glasses which the server said 'came with our drinks'). WHAT?!?!?!? She told us that was how the $2.00 'special' works....you really pay $4.50 for the tap beer and bloody's even though it says they are $2.00. RIP-OFF.
- Pros: Ambience
- Cons: Service / Value
This warm and friendly Kansas City export is a welcome addition in St. Louis Park.

In Short
Earth tones and stone walls create an unpretentious atmosphere for upscale-casual dining. A long, communal table surrounded by stools is perfect for a gathering. Diners seeking privacy opt for a cozy table by a fireplace in the smaller dining rooms. A big menu pleases all, with symbols marking spicy or vegetarian-friendly items. Gourmet brick-oven pizza with wild mushrooms and Brie is big enough to share while juicy barbecued bison burgers satisfy carnivorous cravings.
Skip the burgers

My friend and I each ordered the cheeseburger. We were SHOCKED when they arrived with an ice cream scoop-sized disgusting looking blob of 'cheese' on top. Did some chef think that was a zippy new idea? People, cheese balls are for passe hors d' oeuvres trays..not burgers. Ick. We rolled the grainy ball of waxy looking cheese to the side. Both burger had been ordered 'medium.' Mine was fine. My friend's was TOTALLY RAW inside with red blood all over the plate. Double ick. Fries were good. Am not a picky eater at all, but after the cheese ball topping..and raw meat, I lost my appetite.
- Pros: some outdoor seating
- Cons: Burgers
