Ande rocks!
by donnar1 at Citysearch
I just got the most rockin haircut yesterday from Ande at Salon Stella! You know how you go to the same hairstylist and ask for something new, but end up with the same-old-same-old? Well, that doesn't happen with Ande. I've been seeing her for about 4 years now and she always comes up with something creative and new. Salon Stella is awesome, too. They serve beer and wine and coffee while you're there so it feels like a mod and hip spa...so pampered!
The best place EVER!

I love Salon Stella!! It isn't some yuppie uptown or suburban salon. It's very down to earth and relaxed. I get my hair done by Moe, who is AWESOME! She's really good at listening to what I want, even when I'm not sure. She's super cool and fun to talk to. I would highly recommend her to anyone. I feel really lucky to have found this place!
- Pros: Very welcoming, beer/wine, laidback
Kol is a true artist!

I just got my hair colored by Kol at Salon Stella and felt compelled to write a review to get the word out.
I am super picky about my hair and finally I found someone who can deliver. First of all a word about the salon, very cute place...you feel like you are in your friends living room rather than a salon. Comfortable, trendy and inviting. Regarding Kol she absolutly the best! She really listens to what you want and goes out of her way to achieve the exact results you are looking for. Not eveyone out there doing hair should be...but that is not the case with the staff at Salon Stella, you can tell these people are the best at what they do. With Kol you can relax and feel at ease that a true artist is working her magic...and you will be thrilled with the results! I would urge anyone who is picky about their hair or passionate about their color to visit Kol, you will be glad you did.
my hollywood hair moment

I decided to change my hair, change my life for 2009. Kol was wonderful - I'm a new woman. She suggested I come in for a consultation to ease my new hair jitters, we looked at hair colors online and some samples and she made me a rock star. The color is perfect! (which is very important) She was wonderful at making sure I was comfortable and confident about what was going to happen and then I walked out of the salon with the best hair ever. I cannot recommend her highly enough - and, in addition to making me look lovely, she is a sweetheart. I trust her with my hair - which is a big deal! I'm so in love with Salon Stella! love. and Kol.
- Pros: great products in addition to great stylists

I recently visited Salon Stella to get my hair color done by my hair stylist KOL! Not only is the area Salon Stella is located in amazing but the salon itself is fabulous! The salon is so trendy and chic and the atmosphere is so perfectly relaxed and fun! I have been to a numerous amount of hair salons and have had many different hair stylists and Kol has become my absolute favorite! She is so talented at what she does and has consistently given me the best hair cuts and colors I have ever had! She is an amazing hair stylist and person and I could not recommend her highly enough! It is truely hard to find a salon and stylist you really love but when I left Salon Stella I felt as if I had just spent a super fun 2 hours chatting with my favorite girl friends at an amazing spot and happened to leave with fabulous hair! I had so much fun and am absolutely in love with my hair! I can not wait to go back and see KOL again!!
- Pros: It's a no brainer...you need to see KOL!!!

Gorgeous wedding updo, awesome stylists, and a great atmosphere!

Jamie has been cutting and coloring my hair since I moved to Minneapolis three years ago, and I would never go anywhere else! I'm getting married in September, and I had a great time with my trial run at Stella. Moe colored my hair beforehand (two thumbs up!), which made Jamie's absolutely gorgeous (and seemingly effortless!) updo look even better! I'm so excited to have Jamie and Moe styling my hair and my bridesmaid's hair on the wedding day! Stella is a must for brides who don't want the same old "cookie cutter" look on their big day.
Consistently great haircuts and an excellent bridal party salon experience!

I have been getting my haircut by Carrie, one of the co-owners of Salon Stella for 5+ years- actually prior to her opening Salon Stella. I was referred by my aunt, whose whole family uses the Salon, as do my sisters, our boyfriends and several other friends. In that time I have never gone elsewhere- I love Carrie & her business partner Jamie and their stylist Ande & I'm sure the new stylist Moe is just as great. In that time, I have tried a variety of styles- Carrie always cuts it right for my hair & I am always amazed at her memory for what we tried last time or how my hair behaves. I think they are a great value even without all the nice extras like free drinks, ohh sooo good head massages and the personal relationships and good conversation in a fun environment. And they listen to good music!
My most recent experience was for my sisters wedding. The Salon blocked out 3 hours for the bride, bridesmaids, and mothers. We took over the salon with breakfast, mimosas and make-up, not to mention a somewhat obtrusive photographer (my dad). We had all 4 stylists working to get everthing from blowouts and down styles to partial and full up-dos. We were really looking for classy styles- not what I typically think of wedding updos, and they delivered! It was not only great to know our hair would turn out great, but it was a really fun and relaxing way to start the day! I think the stylists had as much fun as we did! When we were done, my sister commented that everyone's hair was perfect for their personality and she was really happy with the outcome. Jamie did mine and I LOVED it. I have always gone to Carrie, but if I ever can't get in with her when I want to, after that experience, I wouldn't hesitate to use the other stylists too!
I now live in the southwestern suburbs and work in the southeastern suburbs, but I will do the drive to Northeast in rushhour traffit- it is worth it!
- Pros: I love everything- style, environment, experience and value!
Calling All Brides

Whether you're a traditional bride or a bride that thinks outside of the box, Salon Stella is the place for you...and your wedding party. I was in search of not only a great hairstyle, but an experience to share with my bridal party the morning of my wedding. I loaded up the bridesmaids, mother of the bride and flower girl and headed to the salon for a completely personalized, relaxing morning. For hours the salon was booked for our use only. Styles ran the gamut - everything from a traditional updo to a relaxed, flowing mane of curls. For those not certain of the style they craved, the stylists worked with each to achieve a look that suited their personality. If you were not in a chair getting your hair done, you were relaxing with others in the sitting area - snacking, drinking, enjoying the music, taking picutres, etc. Need I say more? If you are a bride or know a bride that needs one less thing to stress about, contact Salon Stella and book your day - you won't regret it!
Awesome stylists!

I was looking all over the cities for a good stylist. Alas I had to drive all the way out to Elk River from Fridley to get a cut from someone I was comfortable with. That was a bit far for me to drive, so I kept searching. I stumbled across citysearch and typed in haircut, or something to that effect. And wha-la! Up popped Salon Stella, it had rave reviews so I thought I'd give it a shot.
I made an appointment with Jamie and I'm glad I did, she did an awesome job and I've been going to her ever since. It's been almost a year since my first cut and foil, she does both very well.
The salon itself is very inviting with a retro feel and tons of character. Seriously give this salon a try if you are as frustrated as I was trying to find a really good stylist.
- Pros: Comfortable atmosphere, friendly service and talented hair stylists
- Cons: A bit on the pricier side, but I believe you get what you pay for.
