Closed for business. Planned on going there for dinner last night (June 5, 2009) but they are shut down and their phone number is out of service.
Interesting restuarant, friendly server... cook too?
by lanline
Six of us went here recently, one cold January night. We found the restaurant to be very intimate and warm. We were excited by the food choices and the passion of the server for the food. When the food arrived it looked absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately, the rice with my meal was not cooked it was crunchy. The waitress promptly removed my plate and returned with potatoes... which were good, just a poor fit with the shrimp that I had ordered.
There were only 3 couples besides us in the restaurant. The food took much longer than expected and it appeared to us that our server might also be cooking our meal - because she and one other woman alternated being in the back for long periods.
+The rest of the food was well done.
+Friendly atmosphere.
+Good prices
- Service slower than it should be (40 minutes for food to arrive)
- Rice was not cooked
- Smell of cigarette smoke coming from the back of the restaurant or restrooms
- Pros: Price, Food, friendly server, Warm environment,
- Cons: Slow service, one dish not cooked properly, limited parking

Love this place! Small, intimate and very tasty. NE joint is perfect for a date with a beau or a close friend. Good food and nice wind selection.

I had an early dinner here with my mother a few months ago, and enjoyed the experience. Food was good, atmosphere good - very neighborhood/local feel, welcoming. Try it!

I had lunch here and the food was fantastic. The Moroccan soup was divine. The owner was there and provided excellent service. Plus the decor was beautiful. It would be a great place for a date.
- Pros: ambience, service
This northeast Minneapolis cafe's owners bring their American and Moroccan backgrounds to the table.

In Short
This cozy neighborhood bistro could be accused of having a split personality. The fireplace and piano are all American, while rich colors and textures speak to its Moroccan side. The same goes for the quirky menu. Mairin's meat loaf, served with roasted red pepper and garlic mashed potatoes, is a staple of the eatery, while traditional Moroccan dishes like chicken tagine with lemon and olives wow the palettes of the locals who frequent the joint.
