When I moved to the Twin Cities, I did not expect that my thick, dark hair would cause all kinds of "hair-don'ts", but it did. I spent a few years going to stylists that would try to stick me with styles for people with thin, blonde hair. The final straw was when I asked for subtle highlights and came out of one salon looking like Cruella de Ville from 1001 Dalmations. Thankfully, I met hairstylist Shawn immediately following this hair disaster. Shawn is very professional, has a fun personality, and is a genius with thick hair (cuts and colors). Both Shawn and LaMode Salon are great.

i am new to the cities and used citysearch to find a place for my hair. from the reviews, i selected lamode. i had maria as a stylist, and thought she was very professional and gave me a great cut. however, i was incredibly dissapointed in the service by the front desk staff and other stylists. talking about their clients to each other very obviously and rudely, the girls seemed more like middle schoolers than work professionals. the man at the front desk made me feel very silly for asking simple questions as well. all in all, i am not sure if the nice hair is worth it.

My sister and I have been looking for a great stylist in the cities for the last year. We both went to see Laurie at LaMode salon and were so pleased with our new styles. Laurie is very professional and listened to what we wanted and gave us great ideas for styling our sassy cuts. I left with Bumble and bumble product and an appointment for color the following week.

I've seen my hairstylist, Crystal Olson, for the past 6 years and she always treats me as if I'm her only client of the day. Her professionalism, experience, and "shear" talent goes above and beyond of what's expected from a stylist. From the time I sit in Crystal's chair until the time I leave, I get first class treatment all the way and I'm always looking forward for my next appointment. Last but certainly not least, her new salon La Mode is just as nice and she is! Thanks again Crystal for making me feel fabulous inside and out!

Pros: parking, staff, beverages(including wine)

i fell in love with this salon. i had a great cut with vanessa (am a new client) and the entire salon enviroment was just so warm and inviting. the absolutley adorable receptionist greeted me when i walked in, offered to take my jacket, and get me something to drink. (they even offer wine!) all the girls are very stylish, and the receptionist looked like a supermodel! i was dying to ask who did her hair/if it was real, but i didnt. vanessa listened to my questions about my hair and helped me create a style that is modern, attractive, but most importantly manageable. starbucks is next door, if youre kept waiting. all in all, a good experience.

Pros: ambience, staff, service

Cons: parking and a slightly long wait

I was looking for someone to transform my long brown hair into a Victoria Beckham style short, blond cut. I also wanted someone that would support Locks of Love. On a whim I called La Mode and Jayne was happy to schedule a cut and color with me. When I arrived I didn't have to wait at all and Jayne offered me my choice of beverages. The atmosphere is sophistocated and comfortable. Jayne seemed excited the whole time even though the process took two and a half hours. She made me comfortable the whole time. The transformation was dramatic! Everyone in the salon was interested in what she was doing. I brought in pictures of what I wanted and she was able to copy the style almost perfectly. She even offered to give me free styling lessons if I was having trouble maintaining the style. When I showed my hair to my friends and family everyone gave me the same respone: You look like a Movie Star! Thanks Jayne!

I made an appointment last minute and they were able to take me in, which was really helpful. The staff were friendly and Laura, the stylist was great. I was offered a drink and asked what I wanted and she really listened. The only thing that keeps me from going back is the product line. I dyed my hair and not less than 2 weeks later, it was completely washed out. Needless to say, I should've went to Target and grabbed a box treatment instead because it would have been the same either way, just a lot cheaper.

Maria Ellingson is wonderful with color! She always does beautiful blond highlights that change throughout the year, more gold in fall and winter and brighter in the summer. I've been seeing her for at least two years and just love what she does for my color!

I'm new to the area and found this salon through City Search and based on other reviews selected Crystal as my stylist. She is fantastic. I had a great cut and color. She was very thorough in assessing my hair and personal needs so I would be happy with the results- but the extras were even better. Crystal gives a wonderful head massage at the shampoo bowl and when your hair is dry. Heated towels are a really nice touch, too. They also use and sell all the B& B products which are the best.

I went to LaMode and had Maria Ellingson as my hair stylist and she was amazing. She interacts with people and made me feel completely comfortable. I do not trust a lot of people with my hair but for the first time I felt that I could trust her with everything because she is incredibly talented and cares about her clients!
