This place is absolutely gorgeous! We stayed in the Joseph room. My fiancee and I had just been engaged that morning, and this place capped off an amazing day. The swedish shower and the double jacuzzi tub were the highlights. After enjoying both of them, we were completely relaxed! The breakfast was amazing...omelette with gouda cheese and sun dried tomatoes...fresh oj...fresh sliced grapefruit...orange pecan scones...and flourless chocolate cake. We definitely recommend this place!

Pros: Decorative Room, Great Shower and Jacuzzi

Cons: Expensive, Uncomfortable Bed

I arrived to the quaint sound of water sprays and silence. Although close to downtown (I think a six block walk), this place invites your instincts to slow down and relax. I was met at the door by Tom and offered to sign the quest book. We spent our first half hour in the green room downstairs where they had set out meats, cheeses, cider, and champagne, and chatted with Tom and a couple of other happy guests. I thought the Joseph room was the quintessential cozy bedroom, with a spa-quality luxurious bathroom. This was the first room we stayed in and what a treat! I received an in-room hour massage by a wonderful therapist. Then we fired up the Jacuzzi jets, started the steam shower and proceeded to go back and forth. This was a heavenly experience. The steam shower had a multi-function shower head, separate body jets, rainfall, and waterfall. I eventually turned the shower to a cool mist while the steam poured out at a hot 100 degrees and I was in heaven. The servants room is the largest, spaning probably twenty feet and includes a two-person whirlpool bath in the corner across from a gas fireplace and king size bed. The ceiling has been cleverly coffered in wood. Included in every suite is a wall unit CD Player with several CDs. We picked out a Mozart CD for background music while we sipped champagne in the Jacuzzi tub and watched the gas fireplace. Now if this is not romantic, I dont know what is! Breakfast was delicious from the pleasurable pecan scone to the decadent chocolate torte. I hope Tom and Sandy stay and run this B&B for a very long time. These are the kind of people who should be B&B owners! They are kind, conscientious, caring, a treasure to the community and treat for every guest who gets to meet them. The mansion itself was spectacular, very period, elegant and timeless. The combination of gracious hosts and the romantic allure of the place would make it perfect for any couple or girlfriends getaway.

Pros: Breakfast, Elegant Rooms, Friendly and Caring Owners

Cons: Dinner in Downtown Stillwater

You can really tell that the owners take great pride in this B&B. Filled with lots of old world charm and antique pieces, it actually feels like a historical house, and not a hotel with numbered rooms and nameless employees. Tom and Sandy are more than willing to answer questions about the house's history and the surrounding area. It's the little things that really matter, and with care and great attention to detail the overall feeling is one of intimacy and relaxation. You just feel special, greeted with wine, cider and homemade bread. Then, in the morning coffee is served at 8:00, followed by breakfast in four courses. If you want something big, without all the little nicks and dents of a lived-in home, or you are unwilling to pay a little more for extras that truly enhance your stay; then this place is not for you. It's not the Hilton, or a budget inn; you need to be able to slow down and take the time to truly appreciate it.

We were guests at the Sauntry during a recent weekend and everything about our stay was wonderful. Having traveled as a consultant for ten years, I have stayed in thousands of hotels, and this is one of the nicest places I have stayed. The inn is beautiful: each room is unique, but all offer luxurious, spotless accommodations and wonderful amenities (such as whirlpool tubs, steam showers, and fireplaces). Tom and Sandy are gracious hosts -- very knowledgeable about the area, and happy to assist in any way to make your stay a pleasant one. Finally, the food is delicious and beautifully presented; in the evening, you will be treated to elegant snacks including wine and cheese, and in the morning, there is a delightful breakfast. Well done, Tom and Sandy. We look forward to our return visit!

Pros: service, food, luxurious rooms

It was o.k. but from looking around, my wife and I definitely felt we could do much better on our next visit to Stillwater. We did not find the proprieters to be very friendly and felt we were a bit of a bother to them.

We had a wonderful visit to the William Sauntry Mansion. The ownwers, Tom and Sandy, were delightful hosts who went out of their way to make our one-day-stay fabulous. They made arrangements for in house massages-which were perfectly complemented by the steam shower and double whirlpool tub in our room; they were quick to offer suggestions to favorite restaurants as we looked through the local menus-even calling to check on daily specials at one; and they were warm and engaging with our wonderfully diverse group of guests over a delicous 4 course breakfast. The entire table raved over the food and upon request I had recipies in my inbox the next time I went online. What a splendid get away!. . . and I haven't even mentioned the beautiful wrap around porch, exquisite inlaid wood floors, and comfortable beds. Enjoy your stay! We'll see you there!

If you're dying to get away to an overexpensive B&B where the owners took out their dog-eared copy of "how to run a B&B" then the William Sauntry mansion is for you!! Lacking any real personality, one can expect the formality associated with everything in it's place, including the period music continually playing, (like a death march) . Is it clean? Sure. Is it necessary to serve a dessert with breakfast? I think not. Save the dessert, Tom, and lower your price!

My husband and I stayed in the Butler's Cottage to celebrate our 1 month wedding anniversary and it was everything we were looking for! Beautiful, private, large room with our own garden to enjoy. When we arrived, Sandy greeted us at the door and offered us some tasty snacks to enjoy in the gorgeous common rooms - lovely cheeses, crackers, salami, almonds and olives as well as a white wine and lemonade! Our room had AC, a double whirlpool, mini fridge, fireplace and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was served in our room and we enjoyed it outside. Lots of fruit, a nice egg dish and even what tasted like homemade icecream for dessert! Very nice place and I would definitely return. Thanks Bob & Sandy!

Pros: Romantic, Hospitable, Good food

Cons: A long walk from town

We have stayed at this B&B a number of times, we loved it so much we had our wedding there! The owners have always been incredibly friendly and helpful, their help was a real blessing on our wedding day. The rooms are lovely, we stayed in the Butler's Cottage, which is also very private. They even gave us a bottle of wine for our wedding night. And the breakfasts in the morning are amazing! I highly recommend a stay at this B&B!

Pros: Wonderful service, Great breakfast

I had a horrible experience at the sauntry mansion. My husband and I stayed there on our wedding night. Our limo driver had gotten lost driving down there, and when I called to ask directions, the owner yelled at me, asking where in the world did I find this limo driver, had we all been drinking or what, and informed me, "There's nothing more I can do to help you people." When we arrived, I recieved no apology. We both felt very unwelcome at this bed and breakfast. We will not be returning.

Pros: Beautiful rooms, Hot tub, Fireplace

Cons: Owner was very rude
