Nachos that will feed a family!
by newfoodie
We were looking for low-key. What we found was a new favorite. They don't skimp on anything here! I was expecting "bar food" and what I got was Cravable Bar Food. We ordered Supreme Nachos, Blackened Prime Rib sandwich and Pulled Pork sandwich. Everything was delicious-but that is WAY too much food for two people! Lesson learned, but we will be back-with friends. Our service was great, and the atmosphere is fun and unpretentious. We plan to try again on a busy night-to see if everything holds up then, but no matter what, I would recommend this place for quality and value!
I'll wait for the next owners

Stopped in here for the first time last Saturday night on the way to the Winter Carnival Parade. As I stood at the bar with very few customers, I found it humorous to be kept waiting while the bartender chatted up the waitress staff. Finally he noticed me and I ordered a rail Whiskey Coke. I was much more surprised when he charged me $4.75, I made a comment, and he said that I was "Downtown" now. As I sipped the drink it was hard to tell if there was any whiskey in it at all. When my drink was empty, I waited to talk to the bartender but he was once again busy with the wait staff so I left.
If the service, attitude and pricing of Wild Tymes is representative of the downtown clubs, I can see why they are all hurting for business. Personally, I will wait for someone new to buy the place before I return.
ONLY TWO PLACES TO BE SEEN IN ST. PAUL . . . THIS IS ONE OF THEM
by mattbirk
You'll never find a more congenial, casual and professional crowd than you will at Wild Tymes before or after a sporting or music event at the Excel Energy Center!
Great food and staff make the entire Wild Tymes experience one of the two places to be seen in St. Paul . . in fact they are the ONLY two places to be seen . . . As to the other place . . . well this review is written for my good friend, Mr. St. Paul Hospitality himself and owner of Wild Tymes . . . Mr. John McDonough . . .

Downtown Bar and Grill with a Neighborhood Feel.
by revfred
Except in small towns, it's rare to fine a neighborhood bar and grill in a large city. Wild Tymes goes a step further it is a neighborhood bar and girll in the center of a large city.
I can't recommend Wild Tymes enough .. Good food . . . plenty of it and fairly priced . . . congenial crowd, owner and staff. They will take care of it. The burgers are all Angus Beef and owner John McDonough prides himself on ordering the best beef. The daily specials are terrific and truly "special".
If you have a legit complaint. Bring it to the staff's attention. They take care of it.
The outdoor patio is large and well staffed. There is also a nice smoking area with an outside bar that is heated when the weather turns chilly. It gets real cozy there in a rain or snowstorm.
Tuesday night are "Texas Hold'em" nights in the back bar. Never played? Here is the place to learn. Great group that is always welcoming to new-comers.
You definitely will have good time at Wild Tymes.
- Pros: The Place To Be Seen

St. Paul dive bar near the Xcel Center appeals to hungry, loyal hockey fans.

In Short
This is one of the few bars in town to serve a 32-ounce beer, but you can burn those empty calories dancing to live music Wednesday through Friday evenings. On other nights, a few of those monster beers might inspire you to participate in karaoke. The main room's got TVs galore, plus games such as darts and pinball. Open daily for lunch and dinner, it offers salads, wraps, sandwiches, burgers, a handful of Mexican dishes and a few upscale menu items.
An average bar

I was on a mission to find a smoke free karaoke bar. Based on citysearch, I thought this might be the place. Stopped there on a September Friday night and the place was dead. A few people in the outdoor pation, a couple more at the bar and tat was it. This was around 10:30pm on a nice evening. The karaoke was going, but no one was doing it. Got bored fast and took off.
- Pros: No crowds! Quick service
- Cons: No crowds!
Bummer Service and Food, maybe next time
by dylan_atkinson
I arrived on a Wednesday night so it was pretty dead. I took a stroll around the inside to check out the bar and they had a pretty good setup in terms of space, TV's games Etc. I took a seat on their outdoor patio. Soon my experience became disapointing. The server had only a few tables to deal with but somehow managed to be extremely slow. When I finally got a beer I ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich. The food arrived in decent time. Looking at the sandwich I noticed something weird. There was almost no sauce on it and the chicken was very dry and hard. Once again when I wanted to pay my tab the server took ages. I may come again just to see if I hit a bad night, but not very likely.

Awesome sports bar
by dantheman2003
The food is great and the staff is very friendly. A great place to get together with friends and family before a hockey game or other event. Also a great place to meet new people and there is a good chance that the staff will introduce you to new people. The management is very helpfull and there is a good chance that the owner will introduce himself to you. A much better place to watch sports than Tom Reid's. The food is better and the portions are bigger. I highly recommend this place.
- Pros: Great food, Awesome staff, Good atmosphere
- Cons: Parking
