Good coop
by peacereaper
A great coop. I live very near it, so I guess I'm partial, but I have been in other coops. With a membership, they give you a coupon book, all of which are coupons to make things free. That alone probably pays for more than half your membership. I haven't felt anything is missing from the store yet, they always have what I want. The produce always is fresh and seems to have a good variety. Things are a bit more expensive, especially since until recently I've been too far away from coops to shop them regularly and would end up going to Cub or Rainbow. However, now living so close, that's where I always do my shopping and I feel good about supporting them and getting organic and local things whenever I can. The only drawback is that the guy who seems to be the manager, although very friendly, seems to have embraced the hippy concept in that he always appears/ smells like he hasn't taken part in personal hygiene for a few days.
Good natural/organic/local food store, but a little pricey

I've been to several coop groceries in the MSP area, and the Mississippi Market has an excellent selection of natural foods, seasonally available local produce, organic foods, etc. The staff is usually very nice and helpful if you have a question. The only negative is that this coop is a little more pricey than the other coops i've been to. I would still recommend the Mississippi Market, just try to catch something on sale (which they have frequently).
