We spent 600 on a stroller and accesories TWO years ago. They convinced us to buy the floor model and save 10%. I have emailed and called and still have no help from them. You see my stroller is missing a part to attach the canopy. So I have never been able to use it outside. Also, we ordered an extra set of tires for 45 and have yet to see them or our money back. I am thinking about sitting in front of their store during Grand old days protesting their store... Also, as a side note it took 2 hours to get us out of the store while they searched for all the stroller parts, including the canopy. Should have been my cue to run. I did want a Bertini and not many stores carry them. I wish I would have ordered online - I still have yet to have full use of my stroller, my "baby" is now 20 months old :-(
Pros: Good selection
Cons: EVERYTHING, Look then order elsewhere online

While all of the sales clerks at Baby Grand were very pleasant to work with and willing to research questions my husband and I will never be back, and will discourage anyone we know from patronizing this shop. We ordered a crib and were told it would take 3-4 weeks to arrive. We had shopped long and hard and invested a lot of time in making a safe decision for our new baby. We didn't mind paying a little bit more for the opportunity to support a local shop and receive the customer service we were looking for. Just after the 4th week rolled around I called BG (multiple times to finally get an answer) only to be told that not only was our crib not in, it was never coming in! We'd been waiting for 4 weeks for the crib to arrive and they never so much as bothered a considerate phone call to let us know. When I spoke with the manager she never mentioned receiving full credit back as an option until I inquired. Go somewhere else if you want to receive what you order. Happy shopping!
Pros: Not a big box store, cute things
Cons: Delivering on what they promise, customer follow through, spendy, only high end options

I've shopped here over the past 3 years and have had both good and neutral experiences. Their selection of top notch brands of strollers + car seats + high chairs and baby furniture is great! The staff has taken the time to educate me and really make sure that I'm getting the right stroller + car seat + high chair for my specifc needs. You won't get this selection + service + knowledge combo at a mass retailer. But if the store is busy the owner(s) and staff can get frsutrated - just beware. Leave and come back some other time ... it will be worth it. If you are there when traffic is slow you will get the attention you deserve! I think of Baby Grand as a small business with a personality. We all have a bad day once in a while. I love my jogging stroller that I got there! And they were great about helping me get a replacement part for my high chair too. I'm in the process of upgrading my daughter's car seat and the service I'm getting is outstanding! Baby Grand is a family owned community based boutique shop in St. Paul .... opening a new store in Hopkins too! Yeah for me given my location. I won't have to drive 20 miles @ way to shop there anymore. They try to price match on items and compete with chains. They may not be able to get as low on price - but they will make an honest effort. I would rather pay an extra $10 or so to keep my money local. That's a fair trade for the increased selection of specialty items and deep industry knowledge that they have.
Pros: More + different + better selection and knowledge on baby gear!!!
Cons: Not for you if you want cheap mass merchandise!

It's amazing how such a small shop can hold so much! What a great selection of highly-rated baby necessities and indulgences. The staff was informative, attentive (without seeming pushy) and very caring. Great selection of baby carriers, strollers and car seats--for very competative prices. They know quality!
Pros: Helpful staff, great selection!
Cons: Parking is tight on Grand.

BEWARE of the owner(s). After spending a lot of money on major baby purchases at this store, we found ourselves yelled at and hung-up on by the owner over a minor miscommunication involving their request to sell our special order to another customer. A call back resulted in continued immature, unprofessional behavior. On a side note, we had previously witnessed the owner brashly dressing down one of the employees right in front of us, all for putting some catalogues away that she had wanted to look at. I would recommend going to this store only to browse their selection and catalogues, and make actual purchases online or at USA Baby. BOTTOM LINE: if you are looking for consistent customer service throughout your transaction, LOOK ELSEWHERE.
Pros: wide selection
Cons: customer service, organization of the store

This place is a disaster. Some of the sales people are knowledgeable, others are completely unhelpful. We ordered a variety of furniture and the staff underestimated how long the order would take to arrive. When I called to check on the order, I was treated as if I was a burden to them. Then the timeframe given turned out to be incorrect. This business totally lacks any sort of management or process. It is frustrating to deal with them and I would definitely not recommend them. An entreprenuer in the Twin Cities could do well by giving this place some competition.
Pros: Some knowledgeable sales staff
Cons: After-sale service is a total disaster

The upside to Baby Grand is that it carries everything if you want to avoid megachains. Cribs, strollers, carseats, highchairs, rockers, carriers, etc, and in all price ranges if you are on a budget. The only thing lacking is the clothes -- very baby-ish, not funky or vibrant at all. Try shopping here first. You might be able to avoid BabiesRUs altogether.
Pros: Great selection, personable staff, many price ranges, unique items
Cons: Cramped with merchandise, gets crowded, hard to get help at times

They have way more stuff in there than I though possible. Alot of unique gifts that you can't find anywhere else locally. The owner found me something that I had seen in a magazine...they can find you ANYTHING! A little messy inside, but homey.

Expect to wait 6-7 months for furniture orders. Also, check in frequently with the store to make sure that the items you purchased were in fact ordered.
