Romantic Getaway

by SaintPaulSucka

The food was more like 3 stars, but the atmosphere was a 5. I went here for Valentine's Day last year and was pleasantly surprised. The meal was expensive but the lovely setting and excellent service were worth it. My girlfriend and I enjoyed a romantic evening where we were one of only two tables in the entire restaurant. I'll be returning this year. I don't really remember what I had, but anybody who goes to a greek restaurant must start with SAGANAKI (Opa!). There is no other way.

  • Pros: Service, ambience/atmosphere, location
  • Cons: Expensive

Best Restaurant ever!

by gardenguy07

We have been going to the Acropol for over 30 years for all of our special occasions. Best Greek food hands down. Better than any greek food I have had anywhere in the world. Family run, the staff has become almost part of our own family, they are so friendly.

Great Greek Food

by Freem

The Acropol Inn Restaurant has pleasant ambiance and good service. We were there on a quiet night and had the full attention of our competent server. He made several suggestions that were on the mark. The service was not rushed and the food was excellent! We plan on returning soon. The decor is subdued and tasteful. The only negative would be the downstairs restrooms. While the decor is equally nice it smelled musty - a water problem?

Greek Tragedy!

by xpano

Horrible, horrible food! Seriously, you can barely choke this stuff down. Everything we tried was flavorless and tasted as if it was warmed over several times before landing on our table. Our suspicions began when they bought us a basket of bread that was stale (I'm guessing at least three days old). Then came the assorted appetizer plate with pathetic and forlorn looking sampler of feta, olives and warmed over items that looked like they had been merely salvaged from other diners' leftovers. We nudged at it. The feta was practically the only thing edible. Then came our greek salads that were a soggy mess of dressing and limp and brown tinged lettuce. Can't they at least afford fresh lettuce? How expensive can that be? A complete disgrace. And the entres....the absolute worst. I ordered the dolmades. For $15 I received a plate of three stale, falling apart dolmades with soggy rice and covered in a flavorless gravy. I couldn't eat it. My wife ordered the spanakopita which was so stale and flavorless, she only nibbled a corner of it. A $65 meal and the only thing halfway decent was the wine and the very nice waiter. But let's face it, if you're going to spend upwards of $50 for a dinner for two...it's usually nice when the food is at least digestible. I can normally tolerate less than stellar restaurant food. But seriously, we both felt like we were dining on dumpster finds here. Nice atmosphere, but this place should be closed down as the food is not edible. Yuck.

  • Pros: Nice waiter, kitchy but clean ambiance
  • Cons: HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE FOOD!!! STALE AND LIFELESS!

Disorganized, bad food

by todorove

The restaurant appeared disorganized as we were asked to move from our window table to a smaller table near the wall (after we had received our drinks) because the "table had been reserved and the couple specifically asked for that table." However, as the couple that eventually sat there did not seem to have been at the restaurant before, so it was quite apparent that it was merely a territorial fight between the waiters. Though the service afterwards was very good, the food did not measure to the restaurant's rating. The lamb was dry and the rice pilaf bland. The appetizer was not very good either, as the feta cheese was very dry. Our experience may have been an anomaly, but then there are other good greek restaurants around town so it will be a while before we go back.

  • Pros: service
  • Cons: organization, food

Wonderful Experience!

by celownsbury

Very accomodating, even with our group of 12 people! George and Nisi were very helpful to us first timers in a greek restaurant. We couldn't have asked for better wait staff! Everything they suggested was Exactly as they said! I would Highly recommed the Combination Greek Plate! you get to try a little of everything. Soup and Salad that comes with your dinner is Excellent! and can we say Flaming Cheese spread! YUM! To Die for!

  • Pros: Free Parking, Awesome wait staff, Very Friendly Hostess

greek comfort food!

by satrax

This place is great. I have been coming here since 1984. The comfort stems from the food always coming out piping hot, Nissei (sp?), the waiter being most competent, and the food always excellent, especially the huge lamb shanks and flaming peppers. They know how to take care of business and provide their customers a most comforting experience.
