Worst Customer Service, visit only to get humiliated

by Anks at Citysearch

I could have rated it no star but the option is not available. I am surprised how can people rate this restaurant with more than 1 star. I agree the food is good, but its not at all value for money. Also the service and hospitality is pathetic. It feels like this place is run by goons. They have no respect for their customers, they don't listen if you request, they make such a silly face while serving you. There are so many good places to eat in Minneapolis, please do not waste your money for getting yourself humiliated by visiting this place.

I agree with people who are rating this hotel with 1 star. This hotel should close down.

Good Buffet with Minimal Customer Service

by hushasha40 at Citysearch

Having read a few other reviews, I can certainly agree that customer service is not a high priority for the staff. I dined at India Palace earlier this week for lunch with friends and enjoyed the very good buffet. The food ranged from mild to spicy, from savory to sweet. We were seated right away and the server gave us the drinks that we requested. Used plates were removed from our table in a timely fashion, although service did end toward the end of the buffet as all of the waitstaff sat down across from our table and enjoyed their own lunch. No one on the staff was especially accommodating, but no one was downright rude either.

I agree with others that it is probably best to eat earlier than later at this restaurant. If not, you may end up looking for non-existant service after the waitstaff's lunch begins.

Delivery?????

by wendyhel at Citysearch

I keep getting directed here for delivery (other than pizza) and when I called, they don't deliver.

I wish it was clear when or whether they really do deliver.

The menu looked great. I might try it sometime when I go out.

Don't ever be the last diners at this restaurant

by Birdsofafeather at Citysearch

I used to love India Palace. Our last dining experience was very strange, because everything has always been good, but don't end up being the last diners left in this restaurant, unless you want the wait staff to turn on you. Going on break is far more important than customer service at India Palace.

We went on a Saturday around 1:30 for the buffet and there was only one other table seated. We were not informed, when we were seated at a dirty table, that the buffet was not only sparsely stocked, but wouldn't be replenished. We were not be offered a menu to order off of in lieu of the buffet and our beverage order was not taken. At this point we should have just left, but we stayed, because we used to love going there. Bad move.

A waiter approached the table and said they were going to close soon and asked us if we wanted our check, it was 2:00 and they close at 2:30. When we went to pay, we asked to speak to a manager and were denied by a very tall rude waiter that told us the manager would not care. He stood there glaring at us while we paid. At this point the situation became heated I told them the service was awful and asked why they were treating us badly. He said they were closing and we showed up too late. I asked why they let us in and why the door was unlocked and he said, because they were still open. We told them we would not be coming back and the waiter said good, don't come back.

Lesson is: don't show up too late by their standards, because you will be treated disrespectfully. I always thought too late was when the door was locked, but, in the case of India Palace, its when they decide they don't want to uphold any level of proper customer service.

  • Pros: Pros out weighed by the con
  • Cons: Awful Service

Great Indian Cuisine

by joelle at Citysearch

My son and I tried India Palace for something different and now we crave their food. We have tried other Indian restaurants but this is the best. The Naan is wonderful as is the Palak Paneer and all of the other vegetable dishes and the chicken dishes they offer. The service is top notch always there to clear your table and fill your glasses. Thank you India Palace.

  • Pros: Best Naan

Among the best Indian in the inner cities

by tom042 at Citysearch

It's sort of faint praise to say that this seems to be one of the best Indian restaurants in the area, as there really aren't any that are all that great. The buffet is willing to stray a little bit beyond the standards, a fantastic spinach-mushroom dish and a perfectly cooked, juicy tandoori chicken were the highlights. I like things really spicy and none of the dishes were that, but I was very pleased anyway, which is nice. Kind of expensive and in another region it might only merit 3.5 stars, but here it's a cut above the competition.

  • Pros: Excellently prepared, flavorful food
  • Cons: Not very adventurous or spicy

Great food - not spicy

by Jimi at Citysearch

The food is all good, but if you like it spicy, you will have to ask for Indian Hot plus os so. Might even need some more spice on the side.

We go regularly and find it seldom crowded - except the lobby with a lot of take-out traffic.

  • Pros: Prompt, friendly service
  • Cons: Don't open until 5 PM for dinner

Don't know why the last 2 were complaining!

by Melissa1212 at Citysearch

So, I don't know what is with the last few harsh reviews but, I thought the food was good and it was also nice to avoid the high prices we usually pay downtown. The service was very friendly, they even gave us a small desert on the house and not because we complained about anything ether (I wouldn't expect this usually but, it was a pleasant surprise). They also have some dishes that we have not found at other Indian restaurants in the area and we were happy to see that because I do eat Indian food often. I will definitely visit there again and would recommend it.

  • Pros: Good food for a good price!

No-not the "best" or "exceptional" or "ultimate"...it's time to get real and honest

by mintchutney at Citysearch

OK, lets be honest-how many of the reviews posted previously really made an accurate assessment. They are full of superlatives like "best" "exceptional" "excellent" which seems too good to be true-how come all the people have same opinion. Or may be its an opinion of one person with different ids, trying hard to promote India Palace.

Now the moment of truth. This is another one of those "boxy" "next to highway" indian place with mediocre food and service. The buffet is small (actually the smallest I have been to) and lines are a mile long during lunch time. Seating is prompt but the waiters are "shy" and have no clue how to serve guests. Taste of food is mediocre to bland at best. If you don't like spicy food, this is a place for you-and chances are, if you don't like spicy food, you won't like Indian food either so there's no need to go this place. Seating for dinner is prompt as well but the al lacarte menu for dinner doesn't makes much difference-bland food continues to pour out of their kitchen.

I am giving them two stars-one is for prompt seating (most of the times) and restaurant is generally clean. However, if you are looking for authentic indian food, move on.

  • Pros: Plenty of seating
  • Cons: Borning, dull, unromantic, BLAND food
